Old friends are like diamonds, precious and rare. New friends are like autumn leaves, found everywhere.
They certainly are. Luckily, I still have my 2 older siblings and 2 younger. Memories!
Although overcast today, it is mild and warm. (21°C) Yesterday afternoon was just beautiful so grey autumn days mustn't be spurned.
Yes, daylight saving. To be continued. Stayed up to watch the match last night. Thought I would have a decent night's sleep and wake up "unmet-lagged". To no avail. The body clock woke at 5.30am which was really 4.30am. Hopefully, will be able to stay awake tonight until at least 10pm.
The ABs didn't win the Cup @punkdoc but they played admirably well with one man down. Again, just a point in it. We missed 2 conversions but that's the game and that's the day. My South African friends told me that for them, it is more than just winning the Cup. It means that the people come together as one nation for a while and vstop killing each other. Sign seen in Wellington after the match "Gutted - but awesome!". Sad too for all the players of all the nations that are hanging up the jersey for the last time, having lost. I thought both teams played well, but the Boks weren't at their best.
It seems that the African continent doesn't "do" daylight saving. I didn't know that. In fact, now I'm not sure if India does either.
I hope that everyone is having a quiet and enjoyable Sunday.
I have 3 brothers and a sister still living who knew me, also my best school friend. She lives in North Yorkshire now but we still keep in touch and see each other occasionally. We were 10 when we met.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Evening all, our dinner out in a local pub was nice but rather marred for us because of the noise, not being rugby fans, we didn't know the final was being televised last night. Unfortunately the pub was busy and couldn't move us into their restaurant proper.
Had a bit of a lie in this morning and the car repair hadn't gone well yesterday as another problem occurred. Cue, a quick trip to Halfords for the boys, they now know what the problem is and OH needs to buy more spare parts.
I kept well away and enjoyed my usual walk in the sunshine. After a quick coffee and a read of the Sunday paper, I decided that I'd better drain most of the water butts. I'd noticed the inside of the porch had appeared damp so rigged up a 'drain' using old gutter pipes, piping the porch butt water out of the garden gate. Worked a treat. I've used old bits of hosepipe to drain two other butts down the downpipe outlets.

Our new neighbour has erected scaffolding all around his house. He must have found a leak in the recent rains.
Once work starts on his roof, that's my early morning stretching exercises outside the back door done for.
Certainly an annus horribilis for you @Dovefromabove.
