Morning all, lovely pictures @Pat E a sit on mower certainly helps doesn't it, ours is very old and needs replacing, parts of it are held together with duck tape. Chilly but bright here, washing is in the machine....it should dry in the wind. Take care those with aches and pains. My son and daughter both live on the south coast by the sea in Hampshire and not looking forward to the next storm on Thursday! Nextdoor's chickens have just arrived in the garden yet again, I don't mind so much at this time of the year but they do make such a mess chucking the soil out of the beds, will have to have another word!
The plants have arrived and they are looking OK! Not sure when I'll be able to get them in the ground though, but I'll look after them in their pots until I have time/a non-rainy day.
Itās a very wet, miserable day today, so definitely wonāt be going far. I canāt, anyway, as the car has been collected for its service and mot today (ouch). š¤ that it passes without problems.
I hope all goes to plan for you @puncdoc and that your surgery goes ahead as planned.
That sounds painful, @tui34, and I hope it soon wears off.
I imagine it will take time for your tooth socket to feel complete pain free, @Busy-Lizzie, but as you say, each day itās a little bit better, so hopefully it wonāt be too long now.
Morning all, quite nice and sunny at the moment but we're due rain later on. I've rushed round the garden battening down the hatches and securing pots, cans, chairs and tables and pruned the climbing rose on the arbour in case the expected storm/winds are as bad as predicted. The rose still has flowers/buds on so I've got them in a vase inside.
That's a nice tradition @tui34 (sorry for your bad back) and @Busy-Lizzie, but when did it start and why October? I regularly put flowers on my best friend's grave and parents/grandparents when we travel to the Oxford area, I find it comforting somehow.
That's interesting to know @punkdoc, thanks for that, I'll pass it onto my sister.
Can anybody tell me please how to switch off the microphone on my laptop? I don't think I'm paranoid but it does seem to be listening to me as I keep finding ads/references to what I've been discussing with OH - creepy! I've tried going to Settings but can't find any reference to microphone. I'm using Microsoft's Edge.
Thank-you @Dovefromabove , @Busy-Lizzie & @tui34 for your kindness.Ā Happy to hear you will shortly be back behind the wheel Dove.Ā It is also nice to hear that you are on the mend Busy-Lizzie.Ā tui34 I sincerely hope your back difficulties are temporary.
There isn't much to tell about me.Ā Grew up in humble circumstances.Ā In primary education they thought I was shy, in secondary education they thought I was an introvert, tertiary education was very happy by contrast.Ā Ā Eventually, well into adulthood, I got my Asperger's Syndrome diagnosis.Ā This explained a lot of previously mysterious things.Ā I can almost always grasp humour, irony and sarcasm (a lot of people I've met on the spectrum can't at all).Ā However, I struggle disastrously with making conversation with people, for example in a hospital waiting room I'm the one reading a book or staring at the floor if I don't have a book.Ā Dealing with people in general is really, really, really not my forte in this life.
A few years ago I had a brain haemorrhage and decided to stop working soon afterwards.Ā I bought a very run-down 2 bed cottage on a sloping 2000 square metre plot (very slightly less than half an acre).Ā I was thinking that this was the beginning of my happily-ever-after right about then.Ā Unfortunately, while doing the hard landscaping in the long-neglected garden, I hurt my back.Ā It soon became clear that proper gardening was off the agenda (due to the back situation), so I sold the little cottage and bought a fairly charmless 1970s 3 bed house on a tiny plot on an unremarkable street.Ā I live in a village which occupies a strip of land hemmed in to the West by a mountain range, and constrained to the East by the sea (in Ireland).Ā I am the unofficial carer for my Mother who lives fairly close by.Ā My daily life is uneventful.
I grow annuals in pots behind the house, which happily faces roughly South.Ā Everything I know about gardening could be written on the back of a cigarette packet (as the saying goes).
I think that is everything.Ā Have a wonderful day everyone.

Thank you for telling us about yourself @Badly_Maintained. My youngest brother has Asperger's.
My first OH died when I was 47, heart attack. We had 4 children. Moved to France in 85 when the children were young. Years later I met 2nd OH in France, but he wanted to move back to England after his wife died. He postponed it for a few years when he met me but he now lives in Norfolk so we come and go as we each have a house, but in different countries!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Just popping in to say āhello folk ⦠Iām backā šā¦my little carās engine Ā seems happy.Ā
My son took me to the car wash he uses for the company vehicles ⦠itās run by a Kurdish chap and his family ⦠they did my car inside and out ⦠it gleams like a new pin and no longer smells as if something died in it. When they discovered it was my car they did an extra special treatment and wouldnāt take a penny for any of it. šĀ

This is where you control the microphone in Windows 10. Open Settings from the Windows icon bottom left of your screen, then choose Privacy and select Microphone from the list on the left.
rain has just started again, but it was kind enough to wait for me to come home. I have been out to the shops this morning and found a pair of jeans at a very low price, so I feel smug about it. Today is Halloween of course but here it is not a big deal, tomorrow is All Saints and bank holiday. Thursday is the day of the dead in all catholic countries but not a holiday. I usually just light a candle in the home. A nice minestrone is on the stove, it will boil at very low heat for a while.
Hello again @Badly_Maintained, nice to hear your story, I too have back problems, for the moment the heavy lifting is done by OH but it isn't going to last long. Glad your tooth is getting better @Busy-Lizzie, mine is totally healed. There is another one that has to come out but not before another 6 months at least, I seem to have found a decent dentist after all that palaver.Ā Is it Thursday @punkdoc? We will all be thinking of you. @Dovefromabove you are popular š

Lovely view both of Pixel and hills @Pat E.
Good news about both cars @Dovefromabove.
