    Morning all.

It's a calm, cloudy, mild morning in Dordogne too.

I ate some chocolate covered walnuts last night and woke at 3.30am with toothache. A bit must have got stuck in that pesky hole again where a bit of tooth broke. I must make an appointment with dentist son.

Have had a busy few days in the garden - now all my summer planting is on the compost heap and all my bulbs are in - apart from a few tulips which are destined for the ground (rather than pots) and they will have to wait til we get back. Ā Think the garden is now ship shape enough to tide it over til we return.

Just bought a couple of trackers for our bags - travelling on trains a lot in Japan and don’t want to have to worry too much about leaving luggage on racks which aren’t visible from our seats.

Off to the Garden Museum in London this evening for a talk on wildlife gardening with Kate Bradbury and Arthur Parkinson.

    Morning all,
my OH thinks the same about England @punkdoc. He’s amazed they’ve got this far considering how they’ve been performing, and like you, thinks they’ll be hammered by the Springboks. I haven’t been watching it as it doesn’t really interest me, but OH used to play for his local club, so has always shown an interest, but not as avidly as he once did - I think he’s become disillusioned by the standard of some teams and the changes to the rules of play, from what I gather.
We have another cold but sunny day, but it’s forecast to change here from tomorrow afternoon, when storm Babet begins to make an impact up here, so I’ve got a few jobs to do in the garden today.
    Hello to @Chelonie.

Morning all - have had a quick flick back just to check that everyone is well.

Sunday's Food & Drink street market went really well - lots of visitors so the stallholders were happy and the shops, pubs & cafes did well too.Ā  And the weather was perfect!Ā  Although cold when out of the sun.Ā  This sign on the stall of one of our local farmers made me chuckle:

It was a long day - 10 hours on the street, although lots of sit downs in various places, so yesterday I retired to bed with my new book and did nothing at all!Ā  The new food & drink guide we have launched went down well with everyone too.

OH took a call from the local hosp. the other day to book him in for an ECG.Ā  He thought something else as well, perhaps the angiogram he is waiting for.Ā  I said it couldn't be that, as that is being done at the other hospital but he wasn't convinced. He couldn't be sure what they said as he had wet hands when he took the call and the phone kept slipping and the paper he was trying to write on kept sticking to his hand.Ā  This is why I like to be involved when he is told anything about his health!Ā  He phoned cardiology - no, you're not booked in for anything with us and you are on the list for an angiogram but that is down as routine so it could be months.Ā  Got through to the right department - yes an ECG and an echocardiogram on Thursday.Ā Ā

My sympathies go out to the OH's of everyone on NHS waiting lists.

Well done on the street market @didyw Ā ... you really are doing Bungay proud Ā ... speaking of which I 'listened again' to Mark Steel's In Town R4 Ā series again the other evening ... the Bungay one is really good ... you have heard it haven't you? It was ages ago and bears another listen. Ā

We've had a busy morning Ā ... son went off to work about 8ish ... he's not back here until tomorrow. Ā Then I got a load in the machine and a ragu prepped before taking OH to the GP practice ...now we're back, the washing is on the line and the ragu is countering in the slow cooker. Ā While OH was with the nurse I sat outside and read my book ... I'm halfway through The Whalebone Theatre and am really enjoying it. Ā The characters are well-drawn and have got me hooked. Ā

Now there's not a lot to do until I take OH for his flu jab ... I might read some more ...Ā

Oooops, I'm in trouble. I brought some of my unusual Begonias into the dining room at the weekend, due to the frost, and this morning there were slug trails on the carpet.
How can you lie there and think of England
