Beautiful stained glass on your door @Pat E. Sorry youâve had your pre-op assessment cancelled @puncdoc. Itâs all so frustrating, we are definitely in dire straits. I hope you wonât have to wait too long before you do have it, but no wonder youâre getting stressed. Very grey here, but not as bad storm wise as they suggested - yet, anyway. Having a lazy day indoors now, just pottering about. The shopping is done and put away.
Thatâs awful, @punkdoc. Nothing like on / off and uncertainty to have the stress levels see sawing all over the place. Not good. Hope it gets settled soon.Â
@Ergates well done for finding excellent glasses at such a low price. We are going to Maastricht (Specsavers) to find cheaper progressive specs for OH. It's about half price, you wouldn't believe what he paid here last time. We go Flickbus for 50 euros return for both, so well worth it (and I get to do some shopping). Stitches will come off today (fingers crossed) appointment at 6.15. Maybe I will be able to go to aquagym tomorrow morning, I do need to loosen my joints but I will ask the doctor. I am supposed to have my flu jab tomorrow but I am going to postpone it.
Thatâs where I got my specs, (. Although not in Maastricht !) When OH wore varifocals, they used to cost a bomb, but at least he wasnât tempted by ÂŁ200 frames, too ghastly when they get sat on! Since he had his cataracts removed, and replaced with carefully balanced lenses, he only needs glasses for reading, itâs saved a fortune. Good to get your stitches out, and hopefully reassurance that all is healing well. Good luck.
Sorry to hear your bad news @punkdoc. đ Loved the stained glass.Â
Interesting reading regards glasses , I've really noticed how much my eyesight is deteriorating lately, especially my right eye. I tried to put make-up on whilst on holiday and really couldn't see without my glasses, all just a blur. Always been bad, but never this bad. And driving at night is really a challenge for me. Have found opticians here very expensive, perhaps I'll have to have a flit to the UK to get some. đ
Having problems with workmen here, been waiting for weeks for an electrician to finish something he started, a plumber to sort out central heating and a DIY man to add a couple of kitchen cupboards. I was very easy going at first, said it wasn't urgent, whenever they get chance, no pressure... But now I'm getting fed up with waiting and it is starting to get chilly in the mornings and evenings and the central heating would take the edge off it. Annoying when I tried to be flexible with their other commitments, but now I feel like I'm being messed about and not taken seriously. I'm pretty certain if I was a man I wouldn't be overlooked so easily. đ
Been baking all day, helps with my stress levels, made a Halloween cake for when I'm away (frozen it) and funnily enough a memory from FB came up and it's virtually the same cake, 3 years ago, I don't even remember making it, I just pulled the design out of my head today.Â
Just another 2 or 3 to do before I go on hols, did manage to get some very seasonal purple icing whilst in the UK, looking forward to using that. đ

Lovely cake! And I bet it tastes great too. I have been there with workmen etc @D0rdogne_Damsel , never ever! be accommmodating because they will always take advantage. It's upsetting when people take advantage of your good nature. But hey! it's holiday time soon. Where are you going?
Good morning all đ âïžÂ 14C wet and blustery here in Norfolk ⊠hope everyoneâs had a restful night ⊠I slept like a log. đ The bathroom is looking fresher but Jack could only do one coat yesterday ⊠the air was so full of moisture that even with the heating and fan on it just wouldnât dry. Heâs coming back on Monday afternoon to finish off. Until then weâll just have strip-washes to avoid steaming up the walls.Â
We had a tree surgeon visit to price up repollarding the ash tree ⊠£650 ⊠thatâs a lot but it  couldâve been worse, thatâs what we paid another firm back in 2020.  This chap said that from the look of it heâd have said there was five yearsâ growth on it ⊠itâs certainly gone bonkers this year.Â
It definitely doesnât look to have any Dieback.Â
Interestingly he said that theyâve felled more apparently  âdiseasedâ large eucalyptus this year than ever before ⊠think he said getting on for 70 in this smallish area of Norfolk. He said that talk among tree surgeons is that there may be a disease affecting them ⊠I said that on the forum weâd had several reports of poorly eucalyptus but the general opinion was that it could be a result of the extended drought last year ⊠he thought that was a possibility.Â
