  • Evening all,

Very relieved to find Charlie's suitcase has been returned unscathed this morning.it was exactly where he left it, so it seems the guilty party was too embarrassed to explain the mistake and simply returned it. We're just very relieved. He's looking at buying some kind of tracking device to avoid future stress.Ā

    Fabulous service @Hostafan1 enjoy.Ā

In the process of booking a cruise for next autumn, anyone got any advice/experience to share. We're looking at Italy and around there, P&O versus Morello?

It's been a frustrating sort of day. I got dressed in gardening clothes then OH reminded me that we had to buy printer ink and go to the Mairie as they had written to say I now have a house number and a street name and I had to go to collect the number provided. I also had to ask about renewing my identity card and have some photos taken for it.

The Mairie gave us a lovely blue number, very French, to screw to the stone gate post. They said I had to inform people about my change of address as though I'd moved house, EDF, tax office, banks, car registration document etc. I had to go to a website called ANTS for the car and my identity card. First it came up with OH's name. He has never used my computer for it, then it wouldn't accept my password and in order to change it I had to type in the old password before a new one, except it didn't like my old password. I got in eventually using the tax office site which is connected and managed to change my password back to the original one! Then I had to inform various websites of my change of address. Some wanted proof like an EDF bill, which I didn't have. Eventually the EDF sent me a form with the new address on it. Daft because they didn't ask for proof. The bank accepted it.

ANTS eventually sent a form about my identity that I must take to the Mairie with my photos - but I forgot to have the photos taken.

At least I managed to weed kill the drive at the end of the afternoon and I've done some watering.

What a palaver, @Busy-Lizzie. A friend in Spain reports similar issues with any form of officialdom. Thank heavens we rarely have to visit town halls or the like here.Ā

What a relief, @D0rdogne_Damsel. I remember my son leaving his games bag with all his kit behind the wall at school, but it never turned up again. Worth a look on the Cruise Critic review site for information on cruises and what to do in port. Haven’t tried Marella, but not a P and O fan, although they are very popular.Ā

Had someone round to quote for cleaning our gutters this afternoon. I usually do them myself, but medical problems earlier this year precluded me climbing up ladders, and a couple of the high gutters have grass growing in them. I’m expecting a huge shock when I see the quote. Thanks to OH, we’ve rarely had to call on plumbers, electricians, kitchen fitters etc but we aren’t getting any younger.Ā

@Ergates our window cleaner in Norfolk cleaned the gutters for £25. The plumber is expensive and rarely seems to fix anything properly.

Thank goodness Charlie's got his suitcase back, that's a big relief to both of you.

Still can't find my glasses nor a phone number for the Shaftesbury Tesco so will have to drive back there tomorrow. Trying to convince myself it will be good for me to drive the distance and back again by myself - been getting out of practice lately.

We're also expecting a big bill for our new stairs @Ergates, this year has been a particularly expensive year so far but hell, you can't take with you!

I found your various experiences with councils etc very interesting. Ā I’m very glad that we don’t move anywhere. šŸ˜. Boring,I know, but at 83, I’m glad to just mooch around here. Ā

We didn’t get any more rain, hail or snow yesterday after our shock of it all turning up with no warning. But, it was cold all day. Ā It’s a bit milder so far today.

Im glad Charlie’s suitcase turned up DD. The tracking device is a good idea. Hubby has attached one to my handbag. (I never think of these modern things, but he does.)

    Good morning to all!

Happy Belated Birthday to you @Fairygirl Ā I hope you had a nice day.

I have my sister-in-law and niece from Switzerland here for a couple of days. Ā The weather has been splendiferous and we have been to the beach - the girls are swimming - I pass, Ā but the dog just loves all this attention. Ā I have a stack of books to read too.
Ā Enjoyable meal in the promenade on Sunday and coffee yesterday morning made my day.

It is raining today which is badly needed (will probably only wet the leaves) but I am shouting my niece a curly hairstyle this morning, (she's 15) so not really the weather for hairdressing. Ā They leave late afternoon for home.

Rugby is getting interesting eh Punky D?? Ā  The hosts are out and we (UK and NZ) have actually made it this far!! Ā Didn't think that that was going to happen this year.

Ā Welcome to you @Chelonie Ā to this extended family of gardeners (amongst other things!!).

Have an enjoyable day everyone. Ā Ā

Yes, @tui34 the rugby has been amazing. Unfortunately I can’t see England going any further and fear we might be thrashed by the Boks.
