We’ve just lit the wood heater again today (1.30pm) . Ā It started out warmish, so we didn’t lightĀ it, but the strong winds must be bringing cold wind up fromTassie. I believe they had snow this morning. Brrr. Can’t get myself organised with the changes.Ā

    Morning all.

I've lit the wood burning stove too @Pat E.

We arrived back in France yesterday. The journey was smooth except I couldn't find the car park ticket for the airport. I usually put it in my French wallet. I found someone who asked my name, and date and time of my flight from France. He found the passenger list and printed out a new ticket so I didn't have to pay the much higher lost ticket charge.

It was 28C at the airport, 25C at home by the time we drove home via an SM. The house was quite cool inside, despite the high temperatures outside. It's built of stone and I'd shut the shutters as the insurance requires. I used to think that showed that one was away, but the French shut shutters to keep heat out in summer and cold out in winter.

The garden looks fine, CB has mown and watered. There are a few tomatoes and some figs.

The weather has changed from this morning, much cooler and it has rained.

Bad day for me yesterday, I seem to have caught daughter's cold, (told her to keep her germs to herself but she obviously decided to share them). Cough, cough, cough, tickle, tickle, tickle in my throat all day, and most of the night. Several doses of my usual linctus and lots of 'fruit gum' sweets (the gelatine sooths my throat) and I seem to be more in control of things this morning. A quiet day is on the cards for me today I think.
Hope you are all ok and keeping warm as this cold spell of weather arrives.

    Good morning all 😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
Glad you had a good journey @Busy-Lizzie and found a helpful human 😊. You’ve missed an
absolute deluge here in Norfolk yesterday afternoon. The A140 and A11 ground to a halt at rush hour and there are flood warnings out. It’s a much cooler 8C this morning but at least it’s dry and sunny. Ā I imagine we’ll heed the heating on this evening … it’ll ge the first time this autumn so not bad.Ā
Thankfully I got most of the washing dry in the stiff breeze yesterday morning.Ā

The decorator chap arrived promptly at 8:30 and is upstairs renewing grouting, bath and shower seals etc in preparation for his colleague to paint the bathroom in a few days’ time.Ā

Son is sound asleep (he had a lot of driving in bad weather yesterday) and OH is doing ā€˜paperwork’. I’m drinking coffee and waking up … I didn’t sleep as well as I would’ve liked, and as tonight’s meal is already sorted I can have a lazy day.Ā

Have a lovely day everyone šŸ˜ŽĀ

Well we've certainly had some rain the last couple of days. Heavy showers this morning so I'm trying to decide if I'm going to put the washing out or dry it inside. Much cooler this morning - had to get the thermals out.
I need to bring in the last tomatoes from the greenhouse - it's been a good crop this year - and the pelargonium from the patio. My aloe has 3 pups from it's summer in outside, but I might leave it to spring to repot them. (It spends its winters on the kitchen windowsill). Not feeling very energetic today, it's been a busy week at work.

Sorry to hear about your cat @AnnaB. Glad you're feeling better @Hostafan1

A a much better day today, sunny though chilly in the breeze. Yesterday was just about non stop rain until about tea time. I think I’d better bring my pelargoniums under cover, too, but not sure where to put them as space is tight in the house. I think I’ll take cuttings and then put them in the garage. We have overnight frost forecast.
Ive got some washing on the go too, and think it will dry outside in this weather.Ā

Sorry to hear about your cat as well @AnnaB.

Our heating has been clicking on automatically for a few days now @Dovefromabove, more first thing than evening, though I think it might be cool enough tonight for it to come on. Quite a shock to the system after these last few weeks.

Hope those of you under the weather soon start to improve.

Mike has finished upstairs and left everything tidy for his colleague to decorate in a few days. Ā Very pleased. Just can’t use the bath and shower until tomorrow. Ā Ā

I know I’d planned a lazy day but I changed my mind …. and now I’m feeling very virtuous cos the oven gleams like a new pin … Well actually both ovens doĀ šŸ˜‡Ā Ā Not quite as good as when Cookerburra do it cos I daren’t take the doors apart to do between the glass, but apart from that they’re looking great. I must say the silicon mat I use for the bottom of the big oven saves a lot of cleaning. Thoroughly recommended (available from ProCook and Lakeland others). NB only suitable for ovens that don’t have an element in the bottom.Ā

  • Good afternoon,Ā  we is in Snetchum (Snettisham), we snuck over the border while you weren't looking Dove 🤣.
Arrived late lunchtime yesterday our drive was OK, some rain but no too bad, SIL,Ā  had much worse rain when he arrived mid eve.Ā  The place we are staying is literally round the corner from our friends and walking distance to party venue.Ā  The only negative is there are feather and down bedding and cushions everywhere,Ā  and SD is allergic!!.
Much colder than of late so Aga in kitchen is a bonusĀ  and heating is on once we events found the controls.
    Home again tomorrowĀ

    Hi all

Lovely day here, but feeling rather sorry for myself, the new hip is causing a fair amount of pain. I have probably been overdoing things.
