@Tack, I have been reading old threads and am up to January 2021 when you had the same problem (I should get a life). rather confusing! Hope all ok.

How funny @kate.james58 I could have sworn it was longer ago than that. '21 was nowhere near as bad, not as deep or widespread and I had many fewer plants then. But you are helpful to remind me, the roses were fine. Just remembered I did have some interesting seeds flow in, riverine weeds.

You seemed quite laid back about it even then @Tack. I'm glad that it reminded you.

  • @Eustace I ordered the rose as well. Leafy Tiger are blaming the weather conditions, Rain, for not delivering roses to customers.  There are quite a few people who haven’t received their orders yet.  The funny thing is all the other rose companies have managed to dig up and send out their bare roots despite suffering the exact same weather.

I’d also ordered a Brother Cadfael from them after someone here mentioned them - maybe @JessicaS ? It was supposed to be delivered in November, then it was delayed due to weather and by mid December I cancelled as I was due to have an op and wouldn’t have been able to do much bending and lifting for weeks. They were quite apologetic and offered me a £5 credit note in my account in addition to the refund so I thought I might try again later on in the year.

I went out this morning and prodded the compost in some of my containers - roses and others. It is rock hard frozen! Hope they will all be ok, but there's not much I can do about it.

They'll be fine! I had roses survive last year in -12 in flimsy plastic shopping bags.

@Eustace I reluctantly ended up asking for a refund on Brother Cadfael as we're moving house, and to their credit the money was back in my account the next day.

Incredible pictures since New Year... @pitter-patter simply magical.

That's some serious flooding @Tack Good to know it's just the garden.. the News stories elsewhere were very gloom..

@Mr. Vine Eye that is some drastic hair cut for your rose..

I am wondering if I should grow a rose in a gap which is just a foot between the house and the pavement in front? I have seen a large climber with similar (may be slightly larger) space at DA growing beautifully onto the pillar..
