@kate.james58 Some nice roses there, I'm glad you've found some you like and just enough to be going on with, so we look forward to seeing them next year. There are so many to choose from, it can be confusing even for us.
Hi! Yes I’m fine thank you. Just very short on time and haven’t had anything to post!
Since OH went back to work after maternity leave it’s been full on looking after baby no. 3 plus the other two, so there hasn’t really been much time for anything else. Then there’s been the weather to contend with too. I haven’t done anything in the garden for months or really had chance to think about it.
Baby (1 year old now) has to either be strapped into the pram for an age, which isn’t really fair on him, or left to roam by himself which would end in disaster very quickly, at the age he is. I did try with him in a backpack carrier but it’s too backbreaking to really be able to do anything, especially as there’s a lot of leaning and crouching involved in gardening.
I’ve gotten really into houseplant growing as that’s a form of gardening that I have been able to do with baby. Our houseplant collection has exploded in recent months! From 3 plants to 20 odd. Calatheas, various pothos - Devil’s ivy, golden, Cebu blue, marble queen, satin - monsteras, philodendrons plus all of the pelargoniums I’ve been growing. Then there’s cuttings everywhere.
Garden is just having to fend for itself and doesn’t look to be doing too badly for it. I put that down largely to the spring mulch keeping down weeds.
Ive managed to start doing a bit at the allotment again, he can cope with a short stint if I play some nursery rhyme music in his pram and keep him snack in hand. There looks to be some spells of better weather soon so I’ll try and get into the garden a bit more, now the plot is looking kept.
Winter pruned my Graham Thomas at the plot, down to a foot as it was new this year. It did really well.
I also, after seeing your message, went out to take some photos in the garden as I realised I haven’t done any for a long while. Just captured some rose hips - I have lots because I didn’t do any deadheading at all!
@WAMS you keep posting lovely rose photos and codes too. I'm trying to resist temptation 😳 I haven't done much in the garden last few weeks. It has been miserable and wet most of the time; also have had houseguests during the weekends. Well, that's my excuse. No bareroots arrived yet; but a massive clearing job awaits before they arrive from TCL. The indoor schlumbergera has started flowering. This plant is more than 6 years old and doesn't need much looking after. I would love to have a red one too.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
At least due to brexit I can’t succumb to all those tempting offers @WAMS!
Lady Emma Hamilton, the new standard, has suddenly got a late wiggle on. Nearly a dozen blooms in various stages of opening on it. A bit pale but the fragrance is still intoxicating..
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I no longer have the patience for TCL and the like.. these were ordered Wednesday, came today.. 3 lovely roses, big roots and thick canes.. all from Eastcroft Roses, Kent. Simple packaging but perfectly adequate.
'Constance Finn' [Harkness].. 'Pastella' [Tantau].. and 'Pacific Blue' [Tantau]

I loved potted Virginia McKenna from them this year. Such a delicious citronella fragrance and it was easily one of my best bloomers.

@Mr. Vine Eye, nice to hear from you. Yes it is very hard to garden with little ones... Enjoy your time with kids and garden can wait.
