@Marlorena wow your garden is looking amazing! My Desdemona is nothing like yours. To be fair I’m still finishing off tying in etc, should have pruned in January maybe.

Do you think my GG is a goner? Shall I just take it out, or could I try it in a pot and see how it does in there for a bit?

..thank you..  no, not a goner at all.. shooting out nicely..  later this summer it may send up a couple of 10 feet basals if you dead head and feed after first flush..

I'm new at rose growing and only became aware of the Austin name over the summer. I'm curious as to why David Austin send out all these different discount code names - at least 3 in the last two days - rather than just the one? I noticed in the autumn when the bare root seasons started it was the same.

Thanks @Marlorena that’s reassuring. I will see how it gets on and make sure I deadhead and feed.

..thanks.. yes, it's about 5.5 - 6 feet on the obelisk so far.. it's wound around it a bit..
It's surprising how roses can be drawn up with a bit of support..

Seem it maybe quite a vigorous rose BMSun can it be kept as a shrub rose, I did have the intention of planting this near the front of a border

@hupellon I think it's all to do with marketing. I haven't received a proper catalogue yet, just a 4 page newsletter (I think that's what they called it) and that had a different code.
I imagine that it is so that they can track which adverts and offers bring in most orders.
Makes sense. Thanks kate.james58. I've also got just the newsletter as well. I'm tempted to buy more but my garden is shadier than I originally thought so I'm sitting on my hands until I go through one growing season to see how the roses fare. Difficult though, they are just so beautiful!

Yes you can keep it as a shrub.  It can throw up a long stem during the summer, just prune it back to the height you want.  It's not a climbing rose, but like many of theirs,  it can be allowed to grow taller if required..
