''Sophie's Perpetual''.. 'Lambada'.. 'Marie Pavie'.. .. some other things.. Salvia 'Blue Merced'.. Diascia personata.. Aster 'Monch'.. Clematis x aromatica..
@Lizzie27 No, I don't chelsea chop Lizzie.. I don't do that with anything here actually.. I just cut it down to ground level in winter.. .. the clump is quite large now, and I really ought to take the trouble to lift and replant a division in winter, but it's quite a job for me, so I'll think on that.
Can't you just dig off a clump from the edge? I find a small mattock from Screwfix, (one chopping end, one spike end, invaluable and much easier to attack a dense clump of perennials.
Well I could Lizzie but I would really want to dig the whole clump up, replant a smaller piece and discard the rest. It's got much too big. I have a decent fork, I think that'll do the job. Thanks for the tip though, I like Screwfix.
@cooldoc I wouldn’t think Uncle Toms can totally replace your usual rose food without N or the micronutrients, a complementary treatment, maybe? Potassium Phosphite has a systemic, highly mobile form of P that is said to build plant strength and resilience to stress, drought, pests, diseases etc. The high K content means you wouldn’t need to use tomato feed on top, but at that price it would need to be a miracle cure!
I have some very confused plants. The crab apple is flowering again while the coral bark acer is in it’s buttery autumn glory. Some roses look decidedly end of season whilst others are bursting into new growth with lovely BS-free foliage, e.g. Lady of Shalott:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Nollie I had not seen the vid sent by Fire when I posted that.. as per that he says Phosphate should be used in moderation compared to N and K.. uncle toms tonic has high P and no nitrogen..🤔

Mine has really grown tall this year and I've had to stake it.
