    Interesting choices @cooldoc very much looking forward to seeing those later on.. some big roses there..

    ..Hope all is well @Nollie  we've missed you of course..

    I meant to say, I like your metal trellis @Lizzie27 .. your rose is going to look great with that..

  • Please can anyone advise about whether or not it’s ok to prune roses during frosty weather? There seems to be a lot of conflicting advice.  Climbers and shrub roses- all are David Austin English roses.

    @Super gardener
    Yes it's perfectly ok for those types of roses, but you could leave it for a week or so, when the weather warms up for most of us I think..

    I have pruned Austin roses when temps were -3C outside..

    Thanks @Marlorena. It doesn't have to bear much weight which is borne mainly by the arbour  to the left, just protects the rose's long whippy stems from thrashing around in high winds. I'm hoping the horizontals might bear more flowers closer to my eye level as well!

    Love your flower photos, have started to make notes of my favourites.

    Anyone waiting for bare roots from leafy Tiger i.e Brother Cadfael, i had a notification my bare root orders shipped today (ruffles dream & aquarell both of which i forgot id ordered! Oh eck...)

    I know cottage memories had to dig by hand as well due to mud and water so the weathers been very hard on small companies. Ive had several orders from them with no issues in the past.

    They still have some and 15% off currently... ahem, im banned from buying more until I plant this lot though!! I need to dig up half the front as it is! ;)

    @Lizzie27 lovely trellis! Ive got 2 similar I put in late last year with Orienta Aladdin & queen of sweden & clematis up them, they look lovely.

    Brother cadfael is STILL out here! Rest are all pruned ready, lots of new growth spiking away.. the frost will put a hold on that I bet. Still finishing planting bulbs too... mostly alliums left to go... nearly there!

    That is a lovely arch trellis @Lizzie27, is it hinged to another arch? I don't think I have seen anything like that before. I think I need one now...
