@PeterAberdeen Well, I'm one who
started buying bareroot roses after seeing @Marlorena's fabulous photos a few
years ago in this forum. I never knew that bareroot roses existed until then,
having never seen them in the garden centres.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
The weather here is horrendous with all the rain over the last few days..
Here are some pretty pics from the last few years.. I like to keep the dreams alive..
Besides hoping that my Zephirine Drouhins will one day be as fabulous as yours @Marolena I am also inspired by the foxgloves planted in front. I'm making a note of that combination.
@pitter-patter you need to do a video for GW in summer when everythings out, its just gorgeous!
@Marlorena gorgeous pics, your a great inspiration. I got mme Antoine Maari after your advice and its now doing really well in its 2nd year in my exposed front garden. My zephrine has suddenly started growing and had a few flowers last year, hoping its as nice as yours once it gets going! Ive planted more foxgloves & clematis-rose combos after seeing yours too.
Im just hoping this summers a bit better, it was very wet last year and a lot was spoilt faster than id like & it was too grotty to sit outside as much as the year before.
Having thought I'd reached my quota of roses and been mistaken, and having been given a Blush Noisette for Christmas, I'm on the lookout for another rose....a shrub-type that gets to a decent size, suitable for part-shade (in a north-west-facing corner, gets late afternoon/evening sun), pale colour and highly-scented. Looking at Autumn Delight, Moonlight and Stephanie d'Ursel at the moment but open to suggestions for something more suited to the spot, if any are (If not I may have to get another hydrangea...!). Considering Stephanie d'Ursel for a big pot anyway......
I’m experiencing the heavy rain of the North of England at the moment and wishing some would fall on the dust bowl back home. Two years of drought and increasing summer heat mean consolidation rather than expansion this year @PeterAberdeen, so no more rose boats for me. A resolution this year is to have another rose cull and get down to 50, but I’ve never been much good at keeping resolutions!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
A belated Happy New Year. I've been having problems logging in. Had a little tour of a very soggy garden but Dames de Chenonceau does not realise it's January
