@Marlorena Dasha is planning to grow that in a container and then onto railings.. the one I got has pretty stiff main canes.. so the container height plus the height needed before being able to bend/ train it would be a bit too much for a balcony, don't you think..?

Cooldoc.. we can't see the location so I presume the member has weighed up the pros and cons, but I wouldn't want to put anyone off their desired rose and plans..

I found it trainable and whilst it's capable of some size, it need not become a monster rose, so trial and error if it works out, but ultimately it's down to the skills of the gardener to manage the rose and train as appropriate, isn't it..  I think so..

Time will tell, I always think roses in pots should be considered a short term project unless you're good at Bonsai..

Yes that rose would be suitable I think, for your purposes... lovely rich deep red rose with a heady fragrance, damask/citrus, when at its very best in summer.. Less so in autumn when the blooms are less full and sometimes more pink.

Lovely foliage too, especially in Spring..
    'Gruss an Teplitz'..

    ..nodding blooms..

..I had it on a wall with a rail for support.. it will stretch across a structure quite well.. here with 'Lady of Shalott'..

Thank you @Marlorena! Your photos are truly inspiring! Such lovely rose. Just placed a bareroot order with Peter Beales. Exciting :)

@cooldoc I'll give it a try and see how it goes... Are the canes stuff from the start or can I gently nudge them towards desired destination as they grow? Thank you!

@Dasha as Marlorena said, you liked the rose.. so give it a try.. and be mindful of gently bending them.. some of them can be thick basal canes.. it is a vigourous rose and can produce more shoots soon.. so don't worry much about experimenting..

I was pleased this afternoon to see my Winchester Cathedral is reblooming, albeit with smaller blooms and quite a few buds. Astonishing given the weather we've just had.
Sorry, no photo, didn't have time.
Other roses still have the odd bloom too, Eglantyne, The Fairy (both pink and white forms), New Dawn (high above the shed gutter!), an unknown deep pink like GJ, Natalie Nypals and my lovely apricot unnamed rose.

Not a happy bunny up in Aberdeenshire - and the last time I think I will use TLC.

I placed and order a few weeks ago for 4 roses bare root.  After the initial acknowledgement of my order I have heard zilch.  Even though I have emailed them a few times re the invoice - they promised it, in their acknowledgment of the order, for beginning of Nov, for dispatch mid to late November.

I know it had 2 x "naughty" roses on it, but they could have informed they were not able to send.

Anyhoo - I just went direct and bought them from the UK supplier as I did not want to loose getting them this bare root season.

I have learned a lesson - the rose industry is fickle.

At least I now know I have got them.

So TCL's error is that they have not replied to you? Check that you did not write to a "no reply" email (I do that sometimes). Try using the customer service email address given on their website. They may be acting in good faith but struggling with rubbish admin systems.

I don't think TCL have started despatching to the UK yet. At least my rose friends haven't received theirs yet. It's still only Nov 12 so start of the season. So you might yet end up with the goods arriving, Peter.:)

I cancelled my order with them a while back for various boring reasons but they didn't acknowledge the cancellation email. Snowed under I expect.

Good thing about them is that you can keep adding and deleting orders as needed.. you are not paying them until just before dispatch..
