The sun came out this afternoon so I shot outside and moved a metal decorative trellis forward about a foot - my Claire Austin does tend to grow forwards away from the neighbouring arbour. The idea being that the long flexible stems can now be secured to the trellis , hopefully horizontally as much as possible. I was so pleased to just do something constructive out in the garden today. Forgot to take a photo so will try to remember to do this tomorrow, then post it on here.
welcome @rfur8832894 looking forward to see your roses this summer.. well, it feels like we are almost there.. even though we are a good few months off...
I might have ordered a bit more than I should have from TCL.. and all have gone to pots... was not able to take pics as I dreaded taking off my gloves in the cold.. will post names tomorrow as I need to check and sort them from all the orders I kept adding up..
Its tempting isn't it @Wild_Violet I dunno why I ordered these.. as I had received a bare root order from them earlier..
Crimson Glory and Marechal Niel (L- R)
'Marechal Niel' for me was like one of those fancy cars which you look at every time you pass by the showroom but tell yourself you can't have it for various reasons.. it was like a constant itch.. and now that the wallet is empty, the itch has been relieved.. expecting Max temps of 2 degrees with negative temps up to -2 or less for next four days.. will see if it survives..

The fact that TCL does not give breeder names for all roses makes it confusing.. hope it is the same as I wanted.. plus they are notorious for mix ups (not for me though).. WS2000 is something that I have ordered from various sources.. Last years specimen from DE-Wilde turned out to be some other Austin.. Tanya's Garden order remains an experiment.. the stem of WS2000 looks totally different on TG and TCL order.. hope @Nollie sees this and post a pic of the stems/ thorns if possible.. I also noticed that the stems of my Penelope Lively is green compared to the pic @Marlorena posted.. wondering if others have the red stems as well.. or do they turn red eventually.. Mine was a bare root from DA..
Hope you've got room for all those @cooldoc! Pity your poor bank balance.
Photo of the decorative metal trellis with Claire Austin now trained on it, as promised yesterday. I really like these trellis panels as they are quite discreet and lightweight which makes it easier for me to handle. .

No, that's not a problem, just plant as normal or heel in.. the rootstock shank is a tough old thing, it won't care about that..
Funnily enough I was looking at Coral Lion's Rose only the other day, so I'll wait to see what yours is like..
