'Stanwell Perpetual'.. the likely originator of David Austin's spinosissima line of roses, which include 'The Country Parson'.. which is an altogether better rose I think, albeit a different colour.

Very true @Marlorena :D only problem is when the hangover clears it leaves the wallet dry...

That does look scary @WAMS ......sleep tight and don't let your 'SP' bite👹

Bare roots from DA? @PeterAberdeen those roots look massive..

Not a houzz member, but I do search for particular roses on them.. the website opens fine on laptop.. try loading desktop site on mobile.. not sure about Safari, Android browsers have that option..

@cooldoc There is an overhead light so there is shadow that makes the roots seem more than there are.

Nice bare roots from DA, Peter, nearly as good as TCL 😉

Each to their own of course, but I think TCL only issuing the invoice and request for payment prior to dispatch is honest dealing. In fact, they used to include the invoice with the delivery and rely on you to pay up later. Schmidt roses in Germany still operates that system, astonishingly trusting in this day and age..

Thanks for trying WAMS, so it’s an android/google issue too. Must be Houzz then, it is infamously glitchy after all.

Stanwell Perpetual would make an excellent security hedge! Others say the same about Madame Isaac Pereire, but that to me that’s just averagely thorny. Shame I got nothing from her after summer though, the autumn blooms are supposed to be the best. Maybe next year. All energy over the last 6 months has gone into developing a tonne of new basals and a truly massive framework.

  • That Falstaff is lovely @Nollie
I haven't seen Me Vine Eye lately. I hope he is ok.

@Mr. Vine Eye  are you doing ok?

Falstaff is new this year @bullfinch. A wimpy, spindly black-spot infested, defoliated thing over summer, but I cut it back by half, cleaned it up and it grew new foliage and buds. Hoping it’s just settling in issues!

I expect Mr.V is just busy with work and family life. We haven’t heard from Adrian, Edhelka or a few others recently either, probably just the same, we hope..
