Brother Cadfael bare root back in stock if anyone missed it. Discontinued Austin, lovely scent, almost thornless, strong sturdy stems & mines still flowering now! Beautiful rose.
Oh dear, @Lizzie27! How disappointing. I'm surprised it snapped so easily. Let's hope the new rose is a better specimen.
@kate.james58 I don't use mycorrhizal fungi in my garden in France. I haven't found it for sale here, but the roses still grow without it.
Lens Roses have sent an email to say my rose order should arrive in a couple of days. The ground is very wet and it's clay and I haven't prepared the new gazebo beds. I think I'll heel them in in the vegetable garden for the time being. The soil is lighter there.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Dasha All their mail order potted roses are sent our ready for planting.. they don't send out newly potted roses. If they are not ready then it would show 'out of stock' on their website.
Only at garden centres in Spring would you find newly potted Austin roses.
I have to admit I would prefer bareroot season started middle of January or thereabouts... Now that all is bought and planted it's a loooong wait until my next rose "fix"
