Very striking @Hostafan1 ā¦.according to my plant id thingy it is a Dutchmans Pipe Cactus šµ Have a google and see if it matches what you are seeing.

Good morning allĀ āļøĀ I have painful sinuses šĀ
@coccinella Ā š¤ Ā sometimes we canāt keep things buttoned up ⦠especially at times when thereās lots of emotions in the air. And sometimes things are better out than in ⦠I know now there are things that I shouldāve said a long time ago but I just didnāt want to rock the boat. Now thereās no one left for me to say it to ⦠I just have to pack it in a box dig a deep hole and bury it (thatās my analogy) and try to forget it. But thatās all āvery Britishā of me ⦠I thought Italians were more used to āletting it all outā. Perhaps yourĀ āupsetā passed unnoticed š¤Ā
Glorious bloom @Hostafan1 ⦠very similar to the one I posted a few weeks ago ⦠but that was highly scented. Ā Weāre there any moths etc around to pollinate it?Ā
Gardening in Central NorfolkĀ on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Right ⦠son is on his way to work and itās beginning to rain ⦠so, an indoor day. Some sort of cake needs to be made ⦠son (and I) have finished the ginger cake.Ā
š¤ Ma used to make Rock Cakes ⦠does anyone make them nowadays? Ā Haves seen or heard of them for years ā¦Ā

A lady made rock cakes for a Garden Club do last weekend ā¦.. it was the first plate to empty. Ā Apparently she added mixed spice, which made them particularly moreish š
Its our monthly lunch do at the Dementia Centre today, then we are off to West London this evening to meet up with Chicklet for dinner. Ā So it doesnāt matter that its grey and mizzly out there.
Just ordered my Amaryllis bulbs (or Hippeastrum if youāre bang up to date with your Latin). Ā Canāt believe its that time of year already šŗ
I have no idea what day it is because I had two Fridays, no Saturdays and Sunday went missing. It feels like Sunday but since the binmen have just been I deduce that it might be Tuesday.
Thank you all for your condolences; the kindness of strangers. ā¤ļø
Normally here funerals are a galloping affair but due to prior obligations of family I delayed it till next week. It's been a genius move. Usually it would be today and mayhem trying to organise but I have been able to sort it all out in a more relaxed way.
Mum was part of the three woman 'hostility' commitee (their term, not mine) in her church for nearly forty years and since the present incumbent has only one functioning arm (covid jab) and her husband has an appointment on the day, mum's team will be taking the helm. I think that's brilliant. One has just turned 80 and the gang leader will be ninety in February! They are a pair of absolute rockets and the three together were a formidable force. It'll be great.
I've been sleeping through the night, I can go to the shop without rallying to get back quickly, I can leave the keys in the doors; I can even leave the doors unlocked. Mum no longer has to fret about her dog, her house, her bus home, her hot water bottle over and over in a loop...
I make rock cakes very often, OH loves them! Just made a batch with gluten free flour and they worked well too, slightly detectable difference but still very good. I didnāt realise they were out of fashion, the guys who replaced our gutters raved over the batch I made them, but referred to them as āthose scone cakesā, obviously hadnāt come across them before.
So glad the wedding went well, and that you were able to enjoy it, @coccinella. Sorry about your difficulties with mum, but donāt let the guilt take over. When I do something that preys on my mind, I try to imagine a good friend doing it, and then resolve to forgive myself as I would them. Send your mum some flowers? Blame the drink?
Off to the garage for the car to have its MOT in half an hour.
@plant pauper. After Hubby died last year,I had similar thoughts about what HE didn't have to go through.Ā Emotions are bound to bounce all over the place and back again.Ā Never feel guilty about "relief " being one of themĀ Ā Hubby's ashes still sit on the table and I talk to him every day, especially when Kylie comes on the radio. Sending hugs again.
