I tried a bicarbonate and vinegar paste as per my sister's suggestion but I either didn't put it on the oven door thickly enough or it just didn't work very well. I want to pick up a new chimney balloon from the stove shop tomorrow so might see if they stock a stove cleaner as well.

I managed to do some gardening after all, it was quite warm but pleasantly breezy.

Glad you enjoyed Cromer Dove, suspect it's a bit quieter now than in the height of the season.

Hope your OH has not got covid @Busy-Lizzie, OH just rang some friends of his and they are both in bed with it. Apparently it is now very difficult to tell the difference between a bad cold, covid or flu as the symptoms are very similar. As long as you stay away from other people for 4-5 days, I don't expect it's worth testing any more.

We have been battling rain and really strong winds all day here. Just opening the outer doors left us feeling the roof might blow off! Eased off now thank goodness without any obvious damage. Around mid day we had an absolute deluge of heavy rain, so much so that we couldn't see across the garden. It lasted about 20 minutes and left flooded water streaming across the yard and down off over the closest field - so glad that we live up high so no danger of flooding.
Hope that all of you have managed to stay safe and weather this stormy episode.
Hope you will feel better soon @Nanny Beach, do take it easy and get some rest.

Best wishes to Nanny B. I hope you feel better soon.

It’s rather warm this afternoon as predicted.  I hate hot weather. We went for a little drive into town this afternoon (with the air con blasting full on). Only needed a few odds and ends from Aldi. They sell the only goats cheese I like. Made in France, would you believe

Flopped with a cuppa now. 😜

  • Good morning all 😊 ☕️
oh dear several folk with lurgies … I hope Mr @Busy-Lizzie
and @Nanny Beach and all others suffering are feeling better soon. I’m a bit sinusy but nothing to cause a problem … so far 🤞 Glad too that Agnes seems to have passed without causing too many problems. 🤞  We have a heavy overcast sky and it’s a bit breezy … but nothing stormy.

The plumber is coming today … the bathroom loo hasn’t been flushing/refilling properly … these dual flush thingummies aren’t very reliable I’ve found. Then we had a letter from Anglian Water saying we appear to have a leak of 1litre per hour 24/7.!! Hopefully that’s the loo and nothing more significant. 🤞

A lot of crossed fingers this morning … better have a ☕️

  • Morning all,

Hope poorly people are feeling better and glad to hear that the storm hasn't caused too much damage.

My toilet is behaving similarly @Dovefromabove, the plumber came, said he'd fixed it and now it's as bad as ever, agree the modern fixings aren't up to much.

A friend from the UK has arrived for a week's holiday. She lived here for 30 years so has lots of friends to visit and has hired a car so fully independent. Nice to have someone who knows me to talk things through with. Not sure about having someone in the house for a week though, sure it'll be fine. Must go, she's surfaced....

    Good day all.

    Good morning all.
I had a bit of an early night last night. I'm clearly not used to being out until 3am any more.
Two full days left, so I need to work on the tan .
32C again yesterday, expecting the same today .

    Morning all.

I hope you enjoy having your friend to stay @D0rdogne_Damsel.

Looks grey outside, was very windy last night.

We had a bad night, OH was tossing and turning and coughing and there will be a full moon tomorrow which always affects me. Think I'll see he does a Covid test today. Daughter 2 in France has 'flu. Symptoms sound just the same as when I had Covid but her 3 tests were negative.

    May go to the SM.

    Hi all
Another dull and miserable day here, not the sunshine we were promised.
Feeling a bit down today, my surgery next week has been cancelled.
