Good for you @punkdoc.  I too felt I was badly treated after 12 devoted years at my last proper job.  I simply had nothing to do with any of them afterwards and took quiet satisfaction that my boss, who didn't stick up for me with the board, was also made redundant a year after me.  But if I they hadn't closed down my department I wouldn't be here.  And I love being where I am now, even though I'm not as well off financially as I would have been had I stayed there until my official retirement age.

Had a day off yesterday - did nothing except read and watch tv. Consequently couldn't sleep last night so my 'get up early with renewed vigour' plan didn't work.  The renewed vigour seemed to kick in around 2am.

Still, its a nice sunny day.

Hugs to all of you battling whatever you are battling today.  Hope the tan is coming along nicely @Hostafan1.

Well done @punkdoc, i too felt let down by colleagues when i was nursing. I sustained a neck injury through no fault of my own and took the matter to court. My colleagues all seemed very sympathetic at the time but when it came to giving evidence in court they all just melted away. Anyway i wone my case with a good lawyer and judge. It was interesting to see the changes that took place afterwards, not that i saw them as i was basically told to go forth.
  • Good afternoon everyone,  we slept late today though not particularly well,  both arms a bit tender and I am an avoid side sleeper.
We are thinking of going to Japan next year too @chicky   we are not as organised as you and are thinking about a package tour.  Some of you may remember we were supposed to go in 2020 but a certain virus had other ideas. Of course it will be much more expensive now, but there it is.

Toothache is much better now. When I rinsed after flossing there was a tiny black shard in the basin. I looked in my magnifying mirror and the ancient filling in the next tooth is shining silver. I think the shard came from it and was stuck in the gum between the 2 teeth.

I've finished weeding the front garden. I found 2 self seeded alchemilla mollis so I moved one a bit and planted the other one by the rose arch.

Hopefully the tooth/gum will now start to heal @Busy-Lizzie

I enjoyed another's day good gardening and got lots of jobs done. Unfortunately I found the polycarbonate roofs to both my cold frame and a wooden growhouse have been degraded by sunshine and have fallen in so I'm tempted just to bin them both. They are both full of 'junk' and I no longer use them for their proper purpose. The aluminium/polycarbonate cold frame was pretty useless to start with, very flimsy and didn't stay in place. The wooden one was better but must be about 6-7 years old now.
    I'll think about it overnight.

I'm speechless @punkdoc, ten years is a long time to hold a grudge!

  • Hope you’re feeling lighter and brighter now @punkdoc 🍻

Glad the toothache is easing @Busy-Lizzie 🤞

Everyone else seems to be ok … (especially @Hostafan1 😉) … sorry if I’ve missed anyone who isn’t. 🤗

The bread rolls turned out ok … they’re for our supper of hot dogs

Evening all. I managed to beat the squirrels and got a decent haul of cob and hazel nuts from our hedges. It took me 2 days to crack all the nuts then blitz them down to make one jar of nut butter. Not a great return for the effort but it is a delicious little treat at this time of year.
Enjoy Japan @chicky it is a slightly strange experience as so much seems familiar but is utterly alien at the same time. Not being able to read signs left me feeling very lost but every time a kind local stopped to help me out. I've been twice on work trips and visited some of the big cities but had very little free time to explore. The only garden I saw was at the hotel in Tokyo which had featured in an old James Bond film!
Back to the hospital this morning for another look at my gammy leg. Scan revealed a small haematoma so it looks like I had torn a muscle somehow and not noticed which seems a bit odd as I expect it would have been painful enough to notice. Relieved not to have another DVT though.
  • That is a relief indeed @steephill 😮‍💨

    @Hostafan1 … 🙄 😉
