Good morning everyone .LB itβs good that your arm and shoulder are feeling better ,take care . Yorkshire is due for a battering sometime today, take care anyone in the area.Red Maple I hope you get your roof flashing sorted quickly.I feel for those poor souls who have flooded homes .Β
The world is in turmoil at the moment .So sad for the trouble on the Gaza Strip .
Good morning, thank you all for your kind words, yes, compared to so many poor souls, our problem is very minor indeed. Itβs still a bit drizzly here today, so I doubt the builder will be able to come today - itβs set to improve from tomorrow so my guess is heβll come on Monday. Theres been some dreadful flooding in so many places, hasnβt there, and sadly some loss of life, too. Homes can be cleaned up but lives canβt be brought back - so sad. I agree, @Rubee, the world is in turmoil, not just with the serious state of the climate but with our species behaviour towards each other - so much hatred out there, I feel lost for words.
Morning all. The rain has finally stopped here and wind too, and whilst everything and everywhere Β is wet and sodden, at least things are still intact. Unlike some poor folks, poor souls. We have to venture out ( for son) to pick up something from town for him. Whilst there, I found where I can get two Lithium batteries so killing two birds with one stone. I sowed some harvested seeds for a new plant we bought this year, Physostegia( think I've mentioned this before) and yesterday, a tiny, wee ' green thing 'appeared. Not sure if it's the seed starting to come through, or maybe a wee, who knows? Still, it's exciting to watch it grow and see what it is. Small things.....
Good afternoon all. I do hope you are having nice days and avoiding the storm. I have been busy indoors today but I did get a really pleasant surpride when my neighbour came round to discuss their gigantic Leylandii which is between our two houses. To cut a long story short he is removing it. In one way I'll be quite sad as it is a regular nesting spot for wood pigeons and collared doves but in so many other ways I will be pleased as for many years it has cut off the light coming into my front room and restricted the growth of the shrubs in my garden.
Busy, that is wonderful news about your package deliveries. I'll bet you are getting quite excited about their arrival now.
Ruby and Red maple our world is in such a mess. The heartbreaking pictures on TV make me ashamed of my petty moans and groans.
Hazel, I wonder if the 'tiny wee green thing' is one of your Physostegia. What an unfortunate time of year for it to germinate if it is. It will need TLC to see it through the winter. Their seeds should be sown February to June.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Afternoon all. Haven't been on here for a bit as I've been busy getting on with jobs and catching up with friends and family while OH was away in Japan on a 10 day photography trip. Picked him up Monday night and we've been slowly readjusting to his jet lagged body clock. Don't think either of us got much sleep on Monday or Tuesday! Things are now nearly back to normal thank goodness.
Heavy rain all day yesterday. We, the house and garden are fine but the village was completely cut off by flooding yesterday. Had an appointment in town this morning so I left plenty of time to explore routes. My regular one was accessible but the roads were horrid - many like mud tracks where soil and silt was deposited yesterday. Lots of small roads still closed with either water or stranded vehicles but the main roads are fine.
Thoughts are with those so badly affected in Scotland - looked horrendous.
I was so sad to read this afternoon that Monty's dog Nell has been put to sleep. She was only a youngster but was diagnosed with cancer in June. RIP Nell - you were gorgeous.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Good to see you T'Bird - did you not fancy going to Japan then?? I hadn't heard that sad news re Nell T'Bird so thank you for the heads up. I do love to see the pets on GW. Monty will feel that big empty void for a while. Lily is in the twilight of her life and I am dreading losing her.
@rowlandscastle444 that is indeed a great likeness - but is it of Monty or your good self??? I reckon we all might be hardy perennials!
p.s. Just heard the news that Bobby Charlton has passed away.

I didn't make a curtain as planned. This morning I sorted photos in the loft, back breaking as you can't stand up in most of it. I brought down 3 bags full . They are now on the dining room table ready to choose which ones we'll hang up in the stairwell.
This afternoon we went to the big plant nursery and bought a silver birch Jaquemontii to replace the one that CB strimmed around and killed.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Ladybird4 it is definitely NOT a likeness of me. I think a certain someone was having a dig (pun intended) at my keenness to watch GW. Like father, like son.
