I hope @Topbird has been enjoying her anniversary despite all the jobs.
The grandchildren were fine until it came to bedtime. Two yr old Charles is now in a bed, not a cot, so he kept getting up, then did a poo in his night time nappy. 4 yr old Elรฉonore howled every time I mentioned bed. Son rang at 10.15pm and she was still up. He mentioned bed on the phone to her and she howled again. He suggested giving her a baby bottle with hot chocolate in bed, seemed to do the trick. She was first up this morning too.
On the way home I stopped to look at wood burners. I'd like one for the sitting room fireplace. The wood burning shops near Pรฉrigueux were very expensive and the stoves were too big for the space. I went to the DIY place in my small local town and they had just what I wanted on special offer. It will be delivered this week. The chimney sweep said he could fit it and line the chimney at the end of October.
I also stopped at the glass and window place as the dining room window has a big crack. I couldn't get them on the phone the last 2 weeks. They had been on holiday. A man is coming to measure up tomorrow.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Thanks for your good wishes Debs and BL. Sounds like you've had a rather fruitful day after a busy evening BL.
OH is doing dinner tonight ๐๐๐ and I think we'll catch up with OC and Uni Chall from last night as we were both too tired for brain stuff yesterday.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Hello all. I've had a busy day today. Had some birthday cards to post and some shopping for essentials needed so I had a leisurely trip to 'sco. The weather was atrocious at first but after I had got everything stashed and then eaten the sun started to break through so I stuck Lily's TV on and went across to check on Jack. He had had a call from his daughter (due home tomorrow, air traffic control snarl ups allowing) and she had explained that she couldn't tell him times etc. of an ETA. Both Jack and I were just saying how quickly this week had passed.
Debs that is a good job done. My drive is covered with erigeron karvinskianus which have all developed from one little plant I got a few years back. I like it so much I just leave it so the top of my drive looks like a daisy field. It is good that your fiancรฉ has sought some advice about his diabetes. Can he wear one of those arm monitors? Great news about Maisie's friend too.
T'Bird, I have to 'fess up. Your anniversary is easy to remember as it is the same date as my sis and BIL's. 49 years for them today. Lovely to hear about your flying trip. I would fly everyday if I could. BTW in rank order for me it would be M25 then M6. I don't know about the M5. I hope Hazel has a nice meet up with her Mum.
Gosh Busy, your night sounds very scary indeed. I'm always pleased when my tiny people go home with their Mum's and Dad's. I get all the fun without the hassle. How nice that you found just what you wanted in terms of the wood burner. Have you still got that big stash of wood in your barn?
T'Bird, enjoy the quizzes. I did.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
A very good morning all. I am so glad that I didn't leave the wet cloth things out last night! I've just been catching up with the news and am wondering whether Jack's daughter and family will get home from Tenerife today or not.

It's tupping it down again this morning. The revamp of the front garden currently resembles a WW1 trench - just a wooden framework with mud in between.
My mum was killed in an RTA on the M5 so my rankings are easy to guessย ย
Managed 13 holes last night in some late summer, evening sunshine. Jumping from the 8th green to the 14th tee worked a treat. Not many folk playing so there was a good gap. We won't manage a full round on a midweek evening until next year now.
Good morning everyone .So very sorry to read about your mum being killed on M5 Big Lad .How dreadful for you and your family .Sending you a big hug that canโt have been easy for you to type.
LB you have more than your share of rain I hope you get chance to do some gardening today .
