Evening all. Had a busy day at the show - it was ginormous! No way anyone could see everything in a week let alone a day. We launched a very targetted attack and had ticked off our list by 11.30. Then it was a bit of aimless wandering looking at vehicles that cost way more than the average house (they tend to leave me cold - too big and rather blingey) and lunch etc etc.
Very pleased to report that we still like the little van we've ordered the most of all the various ones of that size we saw (there are many dozens of different manufacturers - most of whom we'd never heard of!) and we found a bike rack that ticks all the boxes.ย
Left at about 3.30 & drove for 4 hrs. Sundays are great in Germany as there are no trucks on the road and we made good progress and are now about 200 miles from Munich. Been a long, hot day after a rather disturbed night (lots of traffic noise round the campsite) so we're hoping for a better night's sleep today. It's certainly quieter here!
Hazel - I'll join you with the antihistamine tablets. A few midge bites for me this afternoon.
LB - I do hope Jack is OK after his fall. He's lucky to have such caring neighbours. Worrying for his daughter that she struggled to get in. I have an older friend I keep an eye on and I have drummed it into her that she must take her back door key out whenever that door is locked. It's part of her routine now.ย
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
LB, hope Jack is ok now. It's so lovely that all you helped him. He is lucky to have neighbors like you.ย
T'bird, just few more km (500) from Munich, and you are on your destination. You will have warm, sunny, and little bit windy week. It was a lot of trouble to arrange weather like that for you.๐
Against all my plans to rest on Sunday, I couldn't resist and went to cottage. This time I had a free help, so I used it well. All onions are out, and it's quite a surprise this year. LB, I think that I regained my onion king title back.ย It's quite early, outside is calm, and rain is drizzling. I can't sleep anymore, maybe because it's first day of new school year. Of course that we must start with Monday.ย ย ย
Ante, you will always be 'King of the Onions'! I think your weather influence is working over here too. The minute the schools go back the summer weather improves! I am sure we will be making the most of it. I am going to be contacting the tree surgeon this morning and I am really sad about my bird cherry as its flowers always fill my drive with the most delicious scent every spring. A tiny positive, thanks to a kind bird I have a young bird cherry at the bottom of my back garden - only discovered it this year! It is far enough away that it poses no threat to the house. I will be checking on Jack later. I hope he has had a better night than last night.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Morning Ante, LB and all. ย Ante youโve had quite a haul, well done, for all your hard work. ย LB the birds can be very kind with their deposits. ย Rodie
Morning everyone,ย We have a thick fog over the back garden and fields. It's slowly lifting and looks like it's going to be another hot day.ย @Busy-Lizzie that's handy to have a nice warm space. It does look lovely.ย @Ladybird4 so sorry to hear about Jack. Do hope he's ok this morning. Hope he's not in any pain from his fall. His daughter must have been frantic trying to get in. Lovely neighbours like you mean everything LB. @Topbird glad you still prefer the Motorhome you've ordered and you found a suitable bike rack. Enjoy your day. @Songbird-2 hope you had a better nights sleep and the bites are not itchy now.ย @Ante1 yes you'll always be onion King.....and the Vegetable king too.ย I'm going to SM this morning and then hoping to finish off cutting the grass this afternoon once it's dried from the fog.ย Have a good day everyone.
Morning all. Hot again today, thanks @Ante1 , you've done a good job for @Topbird and us too ( weather wise) ๐ You'll always be our veggie king @Ante1...
Hope school starts kindly for you today.
OH has woken up with a bite on his face. He thought he'd been bitten last night but wasn't too sure. This morning, itching commenced. Went to SM yesterday for some Anthisan but the chap said they had run out of stock...." everyone is getting bitten".!ย Will try at somewhere in town this morning as I have a prescription to pick up. OH, meanwhile, is going to start painting the shed and side gate. SGL, hope the fog clears and you can get the grass finished, I think you've said before that you have a very long and big garden? Quite a job doing it.
@Songbird-2 - I don't really get on with Anthisan cream but Eurax cream is excellent for stopping itching of any sort. Stopping the scratching is half the battle!
Also use Witch hazel gel which is cheap, readily available and very cooling / soothing.
Stopping for a SM shop (mainly cheap German beer) shortly. We've already done 2 of the 6 hrs driving scheduled for today. Hoping to be at a lakeside campsite in Austria around 4pm. It's a long old way to Croatia....
Thanks for the weather Ante - hope it works for you too. Don't mind a little rain overnight so you don't need to worry about watering!๐

Thanks @Topbird for the alternativeย ย cream to Anthisan. Been all round town this morning and all sold out...many people getting bitten! I'll look out for some Eurax cream when we next go the SM.ย
Lily's TV has decided to to do an extra rinse and a 3 hour programme when I asked it to do a 1 1/2 programme. I've been gardening but it's now too hot. Should be 35C this afternoon.
The wood burner that I ordered on special offer for the sitting room has just been delivered. It was cheaper from the local DIY place than online. It will be fitted in October.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
