Good morning Rosie and all who drop in later. I am on my first cuppa of the day - nothing will ever match that! It was very hot in the night and I did wake up a couple of times. Hoping I might hear from the tree surgeon today.

Good morning everyone .Rosie I hope you have a rest today . LB I hope you hear from the tree surgeon. It’s very overcast here .I have lost several of my lovely roses .I think it must be something to do with the weather changing so much over the last couple of years .I will be researching some more .I will be looking for a rose that can tolerate the changes ,if such a rosΓ© exists.

    Good morning.
Rather overcast here at the moment, but temps are expected to rise once the sun breaks through.
Such a shame about your roses @Rubee. I hope you find some more.
🀞you hear from the tree surgeon today @Ladybird4.
Just enjoying my first cuppa, too, then I’d better get motivated 😊.

Morning all. I've been gardening, come in for a drink and a cool down.Β

I'm sorry about your roses @Rubee. Did you water them during the warm weather? Roses are normally quite tough, but when it's hot they need a whole bucket of water 2 or 3 times a week and maybe more if they are in pots. The Persica roses, like For Your Eyes Only and Eyes for You, tolerate poor soil and dryish conditions as they are bred using a rose that grows wild in deserts. I have For Your Eyes Only. It flowers on and off all summer and isn't watered when we aren't in Norfolk.

    Morning all.
Was lovely and cool and overcast first thing so I've cracked on with plenty of unmentionables while OH is getting on with painting the shed. The sun has now broken through and it's 26 degrees again. I think a restful afternoon is beckoning for me.

Shame about your roses Rubee. This funny weather is the cause of much of our gardening woes. We are trying to adapt the garden to plant things which would be okay with any type of extreme weather conditions but it's not easy.
OH has finally finished painting the shed. It took some doing due to the little idents between the panels of wood but he persevered and got the job done. He then moved onto varnishing Β our small bistro table and two chairs and a small stool we have outdoors. Must say it's all looking very smart now and neat. He painted it black, but with the original chocolate brown colour it has come out as a lovely deep charcoal colour. Really nice and we're both so pleased with it.Β
I've Β just pottered this afternoon as I got all tasks done this morning when it was cooler. Too hot to do anything this afternoon. The rest of the week is going to get hotter and hotter.
Signing off for today. Have a nice evening everyone and hope we all manage to get some sleep tonight,we'll all be sleeping in ovensπŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅

Good evening all. I managed to get some work done in the garden first thing before it became too hot to even think! I trimmed a very exuberant honeysuckle and consigned it my green bin - which is now groaning with all that is inside it. Filled the bird feeders. I didn't hear from the tree surgeon but he is very busy I believe and he also does work for the Council. I'm not in any rush.
There was a rather worrying occurrence this afternoon when Jack had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. I spoke with his daughter who was understandably upset. I haven't heard how he is but with his latest episodes I am more than concerned. I'll try calling tomorrow. I am not going to Bestie's as usual as she has tested positive for Covid. She is full of cold and I told her that I wouldn't risk visiting until she is clear. She is fine apart from the cold. I might have to go to the GC instead.
Hazel, I am glad both you and your OH are pleased with the furniture. I will be having the fan on in my bedroom tonight.
I am signing out for tonight. See you all in the morning.

Good evening everyone from Croatia. Arrived at our campsite mid afternoon yesterday and, after an easy dinner, collapsed into bed very early. After 3 long days and 3 nights of reduced sleep I just couldn't keep my eyes open. Feeling much refreshed after a straight 9 hours sleep!

Spent the first part of today exploring the campsite. It is huge and there are many fellow campers. We've managed to find a large, very private pitch away from the bars and restaurants where it's very quiet and we actually feel as though we are camping on the edge of a small town that just happens to have a decent selection of restaurants and bars, a very well stocked SM and a micro brewery. All the facilities are spotlessly clean and well maintained. There several 'beaches' and the sea is crystal clear, calm and warm. It has been very hot today (high twenties) and the swimming was deliciously refreshing.Β

Ante Β - Saw a few stalls / shops selling truffles and olive oil as we drove down so will definitely be cycling back to one of those to make some purchases.

LB - sorry to hear about Jack. He is becoming very frail isn't he? A worrying time for you all.

Hazel - I think several of us understand how you feel about the emotions of dealing with the sale of your parents' house. So many memories tied up in the bricks and mortar. I found it incredibly poignant sorting through my father's things.Β
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
