Our car just about squeezes in - or rather, my wife just squeezes in and out of it.ย
Anywhere we move to (and we are currently on our third choice, the other two having let us down) will have an even smaller garage.

    Morning all.ย
When we came out of the meeting last night, a dense fog had descended and it rather looks the same this morning. No doubt this morning's fog is low cloud from the sea which will burn off during the morning. I'm making the most of it as it's lovely and cool.
LB, the meeting was about the change in status /usage of a residence. You can imagine?ย
Found another two grape hyacinths popping through in one of the borders this morning. Yes, LB, I can remember mentioning their arrival early last year too. How is Jack doing? Have you heard? Hope his daughter is alright too,ย
Busy, hope you enjoy the celebrations and Rubee gets her parcel.

Our car was covered in odd spots of dirt the other day which just brushed off with the fingers. I did mention it looked like sand or dust so think we've had a dusting of the Saharan stuff floating over here. Some other cars had the odd dots too.
We have a garage @rowlandscastle444 which gets used in the winter months but OH tends to leave it in the drive during the warmer months. Sorry to hear your moving woes, it's a long process where one is at the mercy of others.ย

Hazel I am waiting for some bedding straw . We moved the old cat barrel to the top of the garden near the back gate .Itโ€™s surrounded by shrubs and very secluded we have put a potted plant on the top .
When I lookedย in the bottom sleeping area a couple of days ago something had been sleeping in it . I have bought the straw to pop in that area . Itโ€™s probably a cat but I am hoping itโ€™s one of our prickly friends or something bit bigger .
  • Thank you @Songbird-2
Yes, moving is a real headache.
We tried a few years ago, and got to almost exchanging contracts, when the owner of the place we were buying, pulled out, due to loss of job offer.

Two years ago we tried again, and never sold. Our agent even locked us out, and I had to borrow a ladder to get in. Not happy!!

This year, our first choice changed their mind. Our second choice has been messing us around, changed the terms of sale twice, and refused to be cooperative. Two days ago we had to accept it wouldn't happen, so pulled out, and put an offer on a third property. Hoping this one goes through quickly, otherwise our buyers lose their mortgage offer.
Now my OH wants a holiday. Not good timing!!

Hazel, yes. I can well imagine! I've just spoken with Jack's daughter. She has recovered from her sickness and Jack seems to be doing OK in hospital. He is eating and drinking and being seen by a medical team today. I will ring Jackie when I get back from Canasta.
Ruby, it would be lovely if you had a hedgehog visitor. Not seen mine for a few years now though last year I found a little calling card on my drive which I thought might be from a hedgehog.
@rowlandscastle444 you get the scream of the week for all of your house hassles!

Afternoon all. Not long back from cycling to Rovinj and back. Only about 8 miles in total but boy were we a tad hot and bothered when we finished! The cycling is ok because you make your own breeze, but when you stop.....

Rovinj was a pretty little harbour town with lots of those ancient winding backstreets full of very old, very tall houses with washing lines strung across the streets from the upper storeys. We left here at about 8.30am so we could do the trip before the heat of the day and enjoyed breakfast at a harbour side hotel.

Bought a couple of black truffles to take home from the market and now need to find some very good local olive oil. Thank you for those tips Ante. Might add local honey to the shopping list. I'm not always a great fan but the local honey we had with breakfast was the nicest I've ever had.

Hazel - hope you get the results you want from the meeting.ย

Rubee - does the heat make things more uncomfortable for your OH? Always thinking of the two of you๐Ÿ™‚

LB - hope things work out ok with Jack.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

@rowlandscastle444, that process / hassle sounds familiar as we went through as similar to-doodle when we tried to move in the 70's. This last time round was much better and we got it all sorted and done within five months.ย
Rubee, it would be great if you had a hedgehog coming into the garden. Do you leave some water out?ย
OH and I have noticed a huge increase in Daddy Long Legs ย in the garden lately. Is it the breeding/ laying eggs season.? They're everywhere but some appear to be quite dozy and slow flying.
Ive made a comment on the local borough council Planning ย Application site this morning and notice there have been quite a few more appear overnight( following the meeting). OH will make his comment when he returns from lunch with some ex work colleagues.
Hope @Ante1 is okay ....last day of the week and then ...freedom๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™‚

I've just sown some Snapdragon seeds I've got from two little brown buds on the mother plant....which is still just about in flower.Nice surprise. Also pricked out some more foxglove seedlings and have watered the pots of Dianthus Brilliant seedlings, coming along nicely. The greenhouse is slowly filling up again, and we haven't even emptied yet for its annual clean out๐Ÿ˜•
I've ย also battled the swathes of spiders cobwebs everywhere.๐Ÿ˜ฌ
@Topbird, stop it! Cycling in this weather....8miles!? Gawd.......( ssshh, full admiration to you and OH)๐Ÿฅต
    This is moi......
