Busy, good that you've got your wood burner, it will be put in just in time for the colder nights as winter draws on. @Topbird, wow, beautiful view. Better than ours when we've been stuck on the way to and from mums😕That blue sky to so blue......lovely fresh air.Hope you're " going" again soon and that you're not too long stuck in traffic. Its very hot here, up to 26 degrees.
Good afternoon everyone. Well it has been scorchio today - too hot to do much outside but I did get another cycle out of Lily's TV. A perfect day for that activity!
T'Bird I was pleased to read that you are quite satisfied with the van you have gone for and were not persuaded by anything else on show. I was greatly satisfied (though not for you travellers of course) to learn that not ALL the roadworks in the world are situated anywhere I travel! Still, the stunning views will have made up for your wait.
Hazel, my Bestie, like T'Bird swears by Eurax. She worked in a pharmacy after having her children and prior returning to teaching. I have to 'fess up I had never even heard of it until she recommended it to me for horsefly bites. Since the livery stables next door closed down I have not had to deal with those pesky critters any more.
Busy, well done on finding the log burner at the best price. It will be nice getting that installed when you return in October - did I remember that correctly?
Jack has rallied well and when I rang his daughter this afternoon she said he was about to make their dinner. He suffers from myasthenia gravis and episodes like this one are occurring more frequently nowadays. I took some of my tomatoes to my immediate neighbours and filled them in on Jack as his daughter doesn't know how to contact them.
I noticed that my little village had a lot of coverage on North West News last night and this morning. All relating to asylum seekers. For once I would like to see something nice on the news. No chance did I hear someone say?
I am out quizzing in Bolton tonight so I will have to record the TV quizzes to enjoy later.
I am signing out for tonight to rest my brain and study flags of the world or something else I think could crop up. Enjoy your evenings and I'll see you all in the morning.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Very warm here today. Did my stint in the local memorial garden - picked a border well under the trees so I didn't fry. Going to youngest's tomorrow to see how her front garden is looking. Then a bit more golf in the evening. I'll be crashing out in the CA after that, I reckon!
A very good morning one and all. We were fairly mediocre last night at the quiz - coming second - but still had a fun time. Was home very late but it did mean I had a better sleep. Another hot day is forecast so I will be getting the hose out this morning before the sun gets too high in the sky. I am also going to ring Jack and see how he is.
@Biglad, I hope that your youngest's garden is beginning to take shape.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning, another beautiful day in store and perhaps a degree or so cooler at a predicted 25 degrees this pm. Sat outdoors to have my breakfast and watched a beautiful dragonfly perched on one of my hanging baskets. He/she settled there a good 10 minutes and I managed to get a photo on my phone. Unfortunately, not as clear as I’d hoped, so tried for another one, but must have startled it as it flew away. Such a beautiful creature. No plans for an especially busy day. I’ve an appointment later this morning, but that’s about it unless we pop out for lunch. Hope your youngest’s garden is coming along nicely @Biglad.
Another scorcher here too, I'm dripping already. Don't cope well with this heat. A very " still" day for me😂.
Had a phone call from brother yesterday, He has had mum’s house valued, and considering the amount of work needed on it, the valuation was pretty good. It is sat on a big plot of land though. I surprised myself at how upset I became though ,hearing that news, I hadn't expected to feel so upset at the house going. Mind you, it had been home for 60 years. All good this morning.
Brother has contacted the Home and Mum can stay there for as long as needed so at least that's good, in that she won't be shunted around to somewhere new.
I think that was very respectable score LB, to come 2nd, I would have been pleased with that position.
Busy, 33 degrees! Goodness....too hot.....
Red Maple, I agree with you for a quiet day in this heat🙂 The dragonfly sounds beautiful, gave you time for a good look.Think we've only seen one in our garden since we moved here so quite a rarity here.
Morning all, out early, having a move around, looks cosy. Very warm, set to get even warmer. Coming 2nd LB is very good. I used to go to a regular quiz night but I’m a real home bod now, although it’s good to socialise. Mobiles run out so just on charge so I can read my messages. Lots of cat litter needing vac ing, gets everywhere, all done and brushing his mini throw. Food topped up, fresh water and treats. Rosie

I wouldn't call 2nd mediocre, LB. Sounds pretty good to me.
I'm off to do some weeding before it's too hot, should be 33° this afternoon.

I've just noticed there are four grape hyacinths bulbs shooting through in the pot!
