Well done, LB, 2nd is pretty good.

I went to Specsavers this morning, 2 yearly check up. Pleased with the test results. I don't need new glasses for reading or driving and my eyes are better than average for someone my age.

Then I went home, picked up OH, and we went to the other town as I had a bit of shopping to do for NDN and OH wanted to go to the computer shop. We had cider and 3 sharing small plates at the pub in the town for a late lunch. The plates of food weren't very small and they were delicious so we'll have something light tonight.

  • Second is, well, next to best. You should get an aluminium foil-covered circular piece of wood, or something equally daft and memorable.

Hello all. What a grey day it has been today. Once more my pond has become an underwater feature but with the removal of the flags I did a few weeks back I've noticed a little waterlily and my water hawthorn. No flowers of course but healthy leaves so I might get a nice show next year.
I got my blood test results this morning and everything is fine so that is a relief.
No prizes for coming second @Biglad but happy with the position. Maybe next week we might crack it. When you get your apple trees, research pollination. If you are in an area where lots of other people grow apples then you should be fine with your choices.
@Red maple you will have a nice pop of colour with your pansies and violas and who can resist those cute 'faces' when you look at them. They are always a cheery sight.
Busy, I am picking up my new specs tomorrow. Since I do not wear my contact lenses now I have opted for a pair of prescription sunglasses as I find the transition lenses I have in my 'ordinary' everyday glasses don't go dark enough to cope with the winter sunlight.
@rowlandscastle 444 I love the silver medal! Thank you. I have received some amusing trophies in my time but I'd be happy with a bag filled with chocolate covered Brazil nuts! Super yummy!

    Good morning all.

I'm taking OH out to lunch today. I'd cancelled it last week when he wasn't well. The restaurant is next to a garden which is open to visit so we'll do that too. We have been to the garden before but not the restaurant.
