I thought that Craig’s remarks about Bobby rather missed the point of the way Bobby danced it. The song was about fashion, the dance was about the catwalk … the catwalk is not, as Bobby knows, about the model at all (personality, intent etc) but about the body being a sort of blank … a ‘coat hanger’ for the clothes … the last thing the designer ever wants is the model showing any personal input at all … so I thought Bobby had it absolutely right.

If that's the case why do we get super models?  It's not because they are shrinking violets but are, themselves, fashionable and good for sales.

Some very good performances and clever choreography last night.  Pity about Angela S dancing on her toes.  Carlos should have corrected that early on but she was otherwise graceful with a good top line.   Angela R is just amazing so I hope she goes far.

Jody was amazingly still for a salsa with his parter doing all the work and movement whereas Nigel and Katya's salsa was full of energy and actually had some recognisable salsa figures for once.

I wouldn't have liked doing a foxtrot to that music given to Amanda and Giovanni as it was difficult to feel its rhythm and I couldn't watch Zara and Grazziano as that rendition of a Dusty Springfield classic was dreadful.

I can't warm to Bobby and Layton.  Something grates about the way they move and Bobby had his bum stuck out in that tango.

I feel much the same too.

Super models become super models not because of their catwalk work but mainly because of their studio work with fashion photographers … and it’s a rare supermodel indeed who is in demand by designers simply for their catwalk skills … they are wanted because their presence will guarantee photographs of the designers’ collection in Vogue etc.

And whilst I agree that some ‘not all’ models are ‘fashionable  and good for sales’ the point of Bobby’s performance was, as I understand it, about the catwalk rather than the model. That’s certainly how he spoke about it in the preamble.

We haven't watched SCD much at all over the years, just a peep in now and again. But I must agree with @Obelixx that the sentiments expressed re Bobby and partner. The one time we watched a bit of a dance with him and his partner this year, we just didn't warm to him at all nor the way he moves. Each to their own opinion and no reason / need for others to disagree.

I did feel sorry for Jody, l thought he looked uncomfortable having his chest out on display.

One of the professionals (can't remember which one) made a comment about the music they were dancing to and how it had been tricky to choreograph. It may well have been Diane.

Personally l agreed with Craig's remarks regarding Bobby.
I fast forward through the waffle and the VTs and watch the dances, the judge's comments, the contestants remarks in the "Clauditorium" and the scores, so anything that Bobby said regarding the "backstory" of his dance passed me by.

I did enjoy Annabel and Johannes' jive, Angela Rippon's rumba left me a bit stunned, and while l think Layton is a good perfomer it all seems a little "staged", possibly to do with his background in West End theatre.
However, l can watch Nikita (his partner) dance all day long  B)

@Songbird-2 is right, reading others opinions on here is all part of the SCD experience for me each year, whether l agree with them or not. It's always interesting to see what others think.

I was finding it difficult to focus on the technique due to the camera work darting about with flashing lights and various special effects, but from what I digested, I thought Ellie was really good (I did not particularly notice her incorrect feet and legs), and I also rated Amanda, Annabel, Layton and both Angelas. I did not like the tango choreography that Bobby danced.

It was not meant to be the Argentine version was it, but the less traditional form? I thought (as per Craig/Motsi) you could see him working out the mechanics of the dance, but others did that too.

I think if more boys took dance classes when young without being ridiculed, then the standard of dancing by the men in the competition would be much better. I do like Krishnan's approach though, even if he is a beginner. I would like to see him improve alot.

Did anyone think Anton was disengaged with judging the Latin numbers? He seemed very laissez-faire about the Latin dances, with not much feedback.

Why is Anton behaving like Bruno?
I Liked Annabel's jive very much, very precise,no flinging herself about.
I think Jody will definitely be in the DO,poor chap, the lifts were good, but not much else.
I liked Bobby, but then I love Mick Jagger!
I know I'm old fashioned, but I really wish the Paso had some good Spanish type music, castanets the lot!

Overall a good show on Saturday , I’ve never danced so never really understood some of the Technical Terms eg freckles  ( if that’s how it’s spelt )

Really don’t known who will be in dance off , all depends who T G P vote for or not

I think Jody’s leg is still painful … Im sure I noticed a ‘short step and a wince’ just before they wenteling the stairs. A friend wears prosthetic legs … they can be very sore and painful if he overdoes  things, and in Jody’s case they might not heal quickly as there is likely to be some impaired blood supply to that area.  It’ll be a shame if it impacts on his time in the programme … but there’s not really anything that can be done … them’s the facts of life for folk with disabilities 😞
