In the dance off, my impression was that the one who had to leave, put the most into it and I was rather surprised and disappointed in the judges! The one they voted to keep, seemed to me, to not be doing much at all - rather listless. I can't see the winner of the dance-off going much further, as I haven't seen much improvement. The loser of the dance-off had better all-round movement quality and 'personal charisma' I thought, but had an unfortunate problem with stiff shoulders and upper body. I don't agree with the decision, but maybe I am missing something technical.

That makes sense now you've explained the back story @didyw.
I got about half way through and fast forwarded through the rest. I'd spent most of it trying to recognise the professionals in their various wigs and outfits. A definite Fosse vibe.
Sorry I think that the one who went home has been under-par for a couple of weeks now while the one who stayed has improved, I too thought well she hasn't had to do much but as the judges said it isn't easy pulling those lifts off she could have easily have fell but her dance in my opinion was much more smooth and controlled. She may well go next week but some of the others may mess up too.
I thought they chose the righ pair to leave. Eddie's samba was very poor and, for me, not well choreographed either - very few basic steps and too much side by side or separated. I did like his street dance a couple of weeks ago but it seems he peaked then and it's been downhill since.
Zara's American smooth was a very different style, well cherographed and with lifts allowed. She did them very well and improved on her performance in the dance off with better lifts and landings.
@didyw, contemporary dance is very different from street. It's more like ballet without all the rules and without ballet shoes and points and is more free flowing. Street is more like a mix of hip hop, RnB, break dance etc. Both can have lifts.
I wasn't keen on Adam and Lubya's routine, loved Angela Rippon's Argentine tango (amazing legs and spine!!), enjoyed Ellie and Vito's Paso and in fact all the others except Bobby and Layton who still leave me cold.
