In theory the judges make their final decision based purely on performance in the dance off but that has been proven more than once simply not to be the case. A couple of years or so ago, one of the female judges I don't remember which, actually said that despite messing up in the dance off she thought the person she saved had danced better overall.
Such a shame Amanda Abbington has left. She was one of my favourites. I do hope she is OK.
I agree … poor lass she’s had a lot to deal with. She needs to treat herself gently.
I'll admit that I don't know what she has to deal with outside Strictly, but she was complaining from the first week that she was being badly treated. I actually interpret that as being expected to put in maximum effort all the time, and being called out because she wasn't.
She was being trolled before Strickly even aired. For some reason some people didn't want her on there and some even said they wouldn't watch it with her on there. 🤷♀️
I don't know why she felt that she had to leave the show and I can see that if a contestant is training hard and getting no results they might be disheartened but I thought that her performances were terrific so hard training was definitely paying off for her, as an actress I would have thought that hard work and practice would have been something that she was used to, anyhow as I said I don't know why she felt that she had to leave but it is sad that she has the show won't be so good without her.
Ellie was great, she deserved her score. I think there was some unfair marking though, I know Angela is supple for her age but that was just a shadow of a Charleston,it's being catered to her age which I feel is ok,but she should be marked as such. Layton didn't do basic steps but got the usual high score despite Shirley saying this. I'm fast losing interest.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
I know you can't believe all you read, but allegedly some/many of the other celebs are unhappy with the amount of dance experience that Layton has. Dancing the lead in Billy Elliot would certainly suggest a very high level of ability.

I thought Laytons dance was more a Theatrical performance in drag
Ellie was very good
