Good morning everyone .I am cogitating about cutting the hedge. It has grown rapidly this year . Not looking forward to it .Sooner it’s done the better .LB as Ante says it doesn’t seem long since you purchased your car.Big Lad I used to do my cousins paper round when she was on holiday. I quite enjoyed it apart from the ink that my hands were covered in by the time I got back home. Enjoy your day folks .
Good morning Ante, Biglad, Ruby and rowlandscastle
Sounds as though you are all going to be busy today. I keep promising that one day I will get myself a skip hired and just dump everything that is rubbish in my garage into it. Might have to enlist the help of handy brother.
Ruby, I remember in the good old days when you used to get your fish and chips in newspaper and the grease from the fat (not oil in those days) would soak into the paper, then that and the newsprint would get all over your hands.
@rowlandscastle444 I think that is a job that you better not put off any longer, otherwise you might get it in the neck! (Ante = to be really punished ).

The skip has arrived and is already half full! There could be an expensive trip to a GC in the not too distant future
I've chopped down the roses that have been in the garden since we arrived 20 odd years ago. Didn't enjoy it but, truth be told, they weren't very impressive specimens - always affected by black spot so I was constantly defoliating them. Took out some aster that never flowered and always had powdery mildew. Increasingly, I'm getting to grips with growing stuff that is happy with the conditions. If it doesn't like it here, then it will go
Morning everyone, The sun keeps trying to peek through the clouds, but it it disappears very quickly. It's quite warm though. Those 3 years have gone very quickly @Ladybird4 doesn't seem that long at all. I'm off to have my hair cut this morning. I'm then going to mix in some compost where the Box ball used to be. Son got it for me and dropped it off yesterday afternoon. Then mid afternoon I'm seeing a friend. All those hedge cutting today.....or tomorrow 😉 take care, don't over do it. @Biglad you take care too, digging and shifting all the plants. Have a good day everyone, see you later.
@Ladybird4 I've trimmed the offending parts of the pyracantha that are along our front path. That at least, will prevent anyone approaching the front door, from getting a nasty thorn (or ten). Also brought a spare bed downstairs for a friend to have. She will collect it tomorrow.morning. That's made space in the guest room - but we don't need it if the move goes through.
I nearly finished painting the undercoat this morning. Now it's 30° on the landing so too hot. 33° outside. Sitting room feels cool at 25°.
This stone cottage is quite quirky, Hazel. It started life as a small farm workers cottage with an attached barn at least 200 years ago and it's been extended a couple of times. The barn is now the sitting room and there are 2 bedrooms over it. The kitchen diner with my bedroom on top is the original cottage. Anyone taller than me has to duck when going under the beam on the stairs and my bedroom door.
Too slowly for my liking, @Busy-Lizzie The place we're trying to buy still hasn't had probate granted. But we've had our survey, taken lots of photos because it's being sold "as seen". Just waiting for the probate, then it should move faster. Wife trying to overcome shingles. Makes for sleepless nights.
So you've been painting in the heat! Rather you than me!! It should dry pretty quickly.
Gosh Busy. You have been experiencing some very warm temperatures there. I love your description of your cottage! I hope that you will take a picture of your finished painting project. I think it will look super.
Hope you are pleased with your haircut SGL. My appointment is this Thursday.
@rowlandscastle444, my Bestie is still waiting for the probate to be granted on her partner's house - it is over 6 months now. I do hope that your OH is not suffering too much with the shingles though I do believe that it can go on for ages.
I am signing out for tonight so enjoy your evenings everyone and I'll see you all tomorrow.

It got brighter here so I risked hanging some wet cloths. 5 mins later it started raining
