  • We have had rain ALL day, proper stuff too. Granddaughter's school Fete had to be held indoors. Lots of people squeezing past each other in corridors and then Hall was packed. Very warm and muggy. Mind you the 'Hit the teacher with a wet sponge' was outside.
Honest I was going to cut at least the hedge this week but I haven't for various reasons. Now it's soaking wet and although I'm grateful for the rain, the council waste bin goes out on Monday.

@Mrs-B3-Southampton,-Hants, you've just missed the boat with your hedge cutting. Hope the weather clears up for you so you can get cracking with it. School fete sounds lots of fun. I miss having anything like that to go to now....will have to wait until 23 is a little older.
@star gaze lily, sorry to hear you've had covid but glad you're beginning to feel better. Poppet day tomorrow /day after? Bless them, they bring their joy along with them and happiness.
Signing out for today. Night all.

    Good morning all.

Hazel, I'm so glad that you Mum is safe and satisfied. It's quite relief for you.

It's so nice to see you SGL. Sorry to hear that you had covid, hope you are now much better.

Sunny and very warm morning. Last week was harsh, and next one will be even worse. First sign of any refreshment is next Saturday. Ladies, thank you for concern, but that huge wild fire was far on the south, so I was safe. It was first one this year, which is good, and it's out by now. Luckily no casualties, only two olive tree plantation are burnt.
I'll have whole day for rest and recharge my batteries, and tomorrow will continue. Despite the heat, I'm going to have my cup of tea.

Good morning Ante and all arriving later.
    @Biglad - NIAMY!
Ante, it is so good to hear that you and your area are safe - I was worried - and this morning they showed on the BBC news a poor gentleman in Croatia standing in the smoking ruins of what had once been his home. So sad.
@Mrs-B3-Southampton,-Hants I remember those fun packed days when I was working. Love a good school fete but, like Hazel, I don't get to experience them any more. It was so nice to be experiencing a community gathering where the atmosphere between students and teachers was on a completely different level. I hope that the rain will have perked up your garden and that you will soon get a drier spell when you can get your hedge cut. I was so glad to get mine done the other week.

Good morning Ruby. I too am looking forward to the finals this weekend. Where has that fortnight gone? I was hoping to fit in some gardening - still might. It was sunny when I got out of bed having overslept but that soon disappeared and it is now overcast and windy. Needless to say that shopping has been put on the back burner! (Ante = put off until another time.)

Good morning all. Thomas was good for nanny yesterday and work is definitely improving. My favourite pharmacist was working and she dropped me home in her lovely car so no buses for me! Heavy rain all day and night. Dry now but windy. Planning a quiet day and lunch at my sisters.
@Songbird-2 so pleased mom is settling in so well a weight off your mind. I remember how stressful that situation can be.
@Ante1 so pleased you were not affected by the wild fires, are they a natural disaster or man made?
@Ladybird4 glad you are enjoying the tennis, I imagine you miss playing. Not a sports fan myself but I love that it brings so much pleasure to so many people.

Good morning LB, Rubee and debs.

LB, it's already mid of July. Time does fly very quickly. If you all are stuffed with rain, please send some in my direction.😁

Debs, I'm so pleased that your situation at work improves. Hope it will continues like that. Those fires are mostly natural disasters, but there is also some caused by man. Only one cigarette butt is enough to start a fire.
