@punkdoc ⦠are you being treated promptlyĀ because youāve been a doctor and given a huge part of your life to saving others, often risking your own at the same time ⦠or is it that, without prompt treatment your other health conditions will worsen? Ā So in order to gain the greatest benefit from the operation ⦠and possibly/probably save the NHS from further efforts/expense further down the line if your general health worsened ⦠the doctors have decided thatĀ a stitch in time saves nine ⦠a really holistic approach which is what patients have been lobbying for for years.Ā
You havenāt asked for preferential treatment and I think itās highly unlikely that youāre getting it ⦠youāre getting the treatment you need when you need it. No need to feel guilty about that.Ā
No one ever said that doctors have to go to the back of the queue when theyāre ill.Ā

Great to hear that you passed the pre op, Punkdoc, and can go ahead with your treatment. Hope you are not worrying about being awake! OH is the biggest wimp imaginable, has to be physically dragged to any medical appointments. He had an operation done under IV sedation with an epidural anaesthetic, didnāt actually realise he hadnāt been unconscious, no recollection even of me walking with him to theatre.
I think it should be standard practice that essential healthcare workers are prioritised for treatment. The impact on their patients of them being out of action for months is massively greater than them taking an earlier slot for treatment that will get them back to work quicker.Ā
Glad you've got the appointment @punkdoc - fingers crossed for it going ahead and you being OK with being awake for it!Ā Two days before our 30th wedding anniversary - another good omen.
Sorry to hear you are having problems @D0rdogne_Damsel.Ā Glad Charlie is doing well - you can be proud of yourself for raising a happy well-adjusted boy.Ā You know everyone will be here for you when you are ready.

Now I'm off to bed - with a hot water bottle!Ā Mainly because my back is giving me a bit of gyp again, but it is chilly!
Another lovely day in store here. Ā We had thunder late yesterday afternoon but no rain. Ā The air is cooler because the breeze/wind is coming off the sea.
The olive flowers are still waiting for me to sweep them up, so that's on the cards this morning.
Lucky you got a spot @punkdoc Ā Awake? Ā Oooh - tell us all about it when you are in convalescence!
Sorry to hear of your dilemma @D0rdogne_Damsel Ā The heat probably doesn't help.
I hope the rest of the crew have a pleasant enough day!
Good morning all š āļøĀ We had quite a bit of rain yesterday evening and overnight ⦠the weeds will be growing š šĀ OH and son will beĀ heading off to their respective work places this morning ⦠although Iāll be picking OH up and taking him for another nurse appointment re his toe at midday. Apart from that IĀ have nothing that must be done other than supervise the tennis. Weāre going to send out for a kebab for supper ⦠Iām relaxing before driving son to Broomfield tomorrow.Ā
Son said it was so funny when his visiting friend was leaving yesterday ⦠it was around 3:15 so the Close was full of young mothers (20/30s) collecting their children. Friend is a member of one of the biggest Indie-rock bands on the globe.Ā
Son said suddenly people stopped in the street and stared, then started nudging one another and sort of pointing while trying not to be obvious. Of course son works with lots of big stars, but he said it was really funny watching someone heās known since he was 4 being regarded like that in our front garden š¤£Ā

So yesterday's RHS show visit was my first ever and I really loved it. Less show gardens and far more trades selling me stuff than I expectedĀ
The weather held out well in the morning but by lunchtime the rain came and and one point was a downpour. Fortunately we were already in the depths of the (absolutely heaving) flower marquee.Ā
I managed to walk away without buying anything, though I did have a rose in my hand that my wife really liked but we decided, as we are away for a couple of weeks from next weekend it'd probably be half dead by the time we got back so would have been a waste, will try and get a bare root in the autumn.
The show gardens were lovely, though I constantly had the advise from here in my mind that they are all theatre and not representative of real gardens. I found that there seems to be a trend, the colour palettes and many of the plants were popping up everywhere and the nursery stalls obviously stock up based on that too, which was interesting but came away with lots of ideas.
EDIT: Only complaint was the queues for the tea/coffee stalls, they could double the number and make everyone happy. Next time I'll be taking a flask
Anyway, enough chatter, here are some photos in no particular order:
I can well imagine how Rob was amused by the reaction of those mothers @Dovefromabove. We had a similar situation many years ago with a top group from the US that we were friends with. We used to sit drinking 'English' tea and putting the world to rights just like normal folks, while at various places in the village groups of excited teenagers gathered hoping to catch sight of their 'heroes'.Ā @Lizzie27 Battle and the surrounding area used to be my regular stomping ground in the 70's and 80's, just wondering where that little church was that you mentioned. Have I missed something - are you on holiday down there? @punkdoc glad to here that you are clear to go ahead with the op, fingers crossed now that it doesn't get delayed. Good luck. Enjoy your day at Hampton Court @BuzzyLizzie hope the rain stays away for you. Sending huge hugs to @D0rdogne_Damsel Ā

I'm sorry to read about @D0rdogne_Damsel's problems. I was hoping it would all be sorted out by now.
