We always grow dwarf french beans and have never had a problem with the amount of harvest. When the plants are in full swing we pick, eat and freeze some. Great to have them again in the winter.
On a different note....Plums have been frozen and another lot bottled (apart from the ones that are eaten fresh). Still mega amounts on the trees.

    Runner beans harvested just now:

I had planted a purple variety of peas/mangetout. I wasn't sure whether it was to be harvested as peas or when immature. Today I tried it as peas - very tender and sweet.Edited to add: trawled through my email and found the variety: https://www.premierseedsdirect.com/product/vegetable-pea-purple-blauwschokker/

I have made 4 fruit pies and shared them with the neighbors, first one was a Gooseberry, then a Cherry pie, followed by a rhubarb, and finally well it was first really, I made 4 Strawberry and cream pies, not bad for a bloke.

@pclark42 How lovely to be able to have enough cherries to make a pie. The birds get all of ours!

Karela (aka bitter gourd) and courgettes.

It's my first time growing karela so the plants are a little bit unkempt - no pruning done since I want to observe their growth habit.

@pinut Nice 👍 Only word of warning is that you might find that courgettes, cucumbers etc. grown nearby might get the bitter taste due to cross pollination. I had bitter tasting cucumbers once the bitter gourd flowers were out, so I don't grow them together now.

Sorry no photo as very busy day.

Had to run out and pick before the weather turned this morning. 24 mixed tomatoes,  12 cucumbers,  and 300g French beans. Best pick yet.

I am not sure about the cucumbers (variety Marketmore) but I can confirm that courgette varieties 'All Green Bush' and 'Atena F1' are not affected as I have them growing in close proximity and the karelas were in flower first.

I also have 'Crown Prince' squash, Moa Gua (hairy bottle gourd) and Chayotes growing nearby. I will report back my findings in due course.

Tomatos here still green. Picked some small cucumbers and cornichons. Picked the remaing purple dwarf beans and some more more peas.
In the orchard harvested yet more Vic plums. Never had such a glut. Made some jam from some of them. Will take more plums up to the village hall on Weds when people get together. Hope they will like plums as we are running out of freezer space and bottles and we still have the chokeberries to harvest!
