  • Picked the last of the plums. Gave buckets loads to family and friends and still have bottled, jammed and frozen a great deal. Last lot will be made into chutney with fallen beurre hardy pears and onions.
Harvested the choke berries. Great harvest (the birds left them!) but running out of bottles again and freezer space so started them off to infuse for wine.

Isn't it nice to have things you can just go out and pick for a meal. Today it was Pentland Javelin Potatoes, 3 and a half pounds of new potato sized ones from a potato sack.

Harvested some of the basil to preserve in olive oil.

The first of the cucumbers are just starting to come through.

    Aronia Berry Jam
Native to North America. Possibly the healthiest berry around because it is very high in anti-oxidants and vitamin C. In addition to the flowers and fruits has a lovely show of autumn colour as the leaves turn red before they fall.
  • @pinut Not sure why but we are rubbish at growing basil. Yours looks great.

Pears and apples much earlier this year.

Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

  • Wow @Eustace Apples and pears already! I did pick up some fallen (from the high winds) Beurre Hardy pears to put in with the plums for a chutney but the pips were still very white so nowhere near ready to eat fresh. Will have to check the Williams and Conference but they don't look big enough yet.
