Hi folks … a busy day … son had a really helpful meeting and there are plans being made for him to start (gently) WAH before long … with occasional visits to the office which I’m happy to be the chauffeur for if needed … there’s a really good independent GC near the office with a great restaurant and outside areas where I could  sit and read/draw/write etc. for an hour or two.

The heavens really opened on the way back … ⛈. I’d left the Toms and courgettes out on the terrace but there was ni damage and they’re looking very sturdy and healthy.

Glad things look more settled now @D0rdogne_Damsel … just the dotting  of an ‘i’ and the crossing of a ‘t’ and you’ll be there 😊

hope poorly and recovering ones have had a good day and can look forward to a restful night.

    🥱 night night all 🛌 😴

    Good morning Forkers,

a lot to catching up to do with you lot. Well done @D0rdogne_Damsel I just hope the last hurdles will be little hops. Notaires eh? When we signed for this house the notaire was drunk! Luckily the paperwork was in order, all done by his assistant, no doubt.

Weather is still quite mis here.  I have lots of housework to do and food shopping so that is the drill for the day. OH still got backache but says he will connect the water butt to the drainpipe from the roof.

Wishing you all a lovely day.

Good morning everyone,  glad to hear all the various bits of good news.
I was at Capel Manor yesterday morning and then to the plots in the afternoon,  to get the tomatoes in the greenhouse  set up into the self watering pots. Then a final burst in the garden with OH repotting,  and tidying a bit more. Managed to dodge the rain, very tired but happy we are making progress at last.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
Hope everyone’s well rested. Glad to hear the deer are minding their manners @punkdoc. 👍
Overcast and very dull here today … looks as if we can expect showers …

Morning all.  Stair rods on and off here.  But forecast fine for Sunday.

Good news on the house @D0rdogne_Damsel but I don't understand about the bit where you can't sell, the house can only be inherited?

Hope your 12-hour shift (hats off to you) goes well today @AuntyRach.

Love how you always find the upside @Dovefromabove - rather than moaning about having to hang around when Rob goes into the office, you accentuate the positive.  Hats off to you too!

Hope Chicklet is faring OK on t'other side of the world and over the infection.  You'll be glad when you can see her again @chicky.

    Paperwork today.

😂 @didyw … I was raised on Pollyanna … there’s (almost) always a silver lining if you look for it. 👓

Looks lovely Dove!  Yes, I can imagine spending a few hours here - especially if you draw and paint.

    Hi all,

All sounding good for everyone on here, nice to hear it.

The one thing in France that can drive you quietly mad @didyw is paperwork/bureaucracy. From my understanding of the situation.... and it is only understanding what the notaire tried to explain in layman's terms is because one of the owners died so recently, all the original deeds are in the 3 names. Following the death all the deeds have to be re-written and re-registered into the 2 remaining owners name's so they can then be transferred, re-written and re-registered in my name! Notaires do very nicely out of all this don't they.

The extra survey that has to be done because of the new law, will tell me all the things that should be done to improve the energy efficiency of the house. Unfortunately, all the surveyors have been queuing up to get on the government approved courses and then they have to register their new qualification with their insurers to get approval to do the survey.... all a bit of a nightmare.

However, the house cannot be sold to anyone else, I am not allowed to back out of the sale without a heavy financial penalty, and even if the current owners die :open_mouth: their inheritors are obliged to continue with the sale to me.

So, two hours in the notaires office yesterday and still no key... but ever onwards.

Also spent two hours this morning at the mairie's office getting correct paperwork signed to allow Charlie to travel to Berlin by himself and Charlie's British friend to come and stay here for a week with us. Passports, birth certificates, payslips, proof of ownership of house (current house) (I am not even going to tell them I am getting a second house) electric bill, bank statement, attestations from both sets of parents that we are allowing the kids to travel, a 'timbre fiscal' for 30€.... and so it goes on. Nanny state comes to mind... surely the only important people making these decisions should be the parents not the mairie. I just hope he says yes after all that.

Now going back down to my kitchen to make cakes and get my head clear of all this rubbish.

Have a good day all. :)
