I had the shingles one as soon as I was eligible … I’d been counting the months. I’ve seen folks suffering horribly and for a very long time from the effects of shingles … get the jab! 👍

My dad is due to get the jab on Monday and then he is flying to America on Tuesday. I’m not sure it’s the best idea, it’d be a horrible flight if he were to react badly.
Yep, get that shingles jab as soon as you are eligible. Friends who’ve had shingles have said how horrid it is, and many people suffer for a long time after catching it. Had no side effects after the jab, and even if I had, I’d have considered it worth it.
Sorry you felt bad after your last covid jab, @punkdoc. OH was lucky and had no more than a slightly sore arm for a day. I’m not eligible for another one yet.
@Latimer, any chance your dad could get his jab sometime this week? Maybe see if any appointments available at a different centre, or turn up and throw himself at their mercy? I’m sure they have some failures to turn up, and enough redundancy in their supplies to be able to spare him a jab? Otherwise, make sure he has enough paracetamol with him. ( I always take a supply to the US anyway, as it seems to be hard to get there.)
I get completely mixed up with @Pat E hours, but hope you're keeping warm, and well done with the wood, very courageous of you.
What age do you have to be to get the shingles jab @Dovefromabove?
I'm struggling with Charlie's dad ( as usual) as is Charlie. Because he is so ill we're trying to be helpful/patient with him but he shows no appreciation or respect towards us. I really don't understand him. He's not got a friend in the world, Charlie and I do our very best to be kind to him, and yet he is just rude, demanding, accusatory and aggressive. Once I get the keys to my new house I think he'll find both Charlie and myself stay well away.
I only go there because it's the easiest place to see Charlie and also I tend to act as a bit of a referee between them, protecting Charlie. He called Charlie a "stupid cretin" the other day, I really can't allow that to happen, and I can't let Charlie think it's acceptable. Such a difficult man. And he's totally oblivious, and genuinely thinks we're all terrible and he's perfect.
Counting the days for those keys....

@D0rdogne_Damsel, that's definitely unacceptable behaviour. Is there no way Charlie could stay with you at the restaurant at weekends? I know what you mean as acting as a referee - I had to do that for my son and protect him from his father. I think it gets worse when fathers feel threatened by teenage sons. Hopefully Charlie will stay with you at the new house?

We've had a moderately good day, went to a nearby GC only to find we couldn't get into the car park they were so busy. Even the delivery trucks couldn't get in. We ended up in a well known DIY store for J.I. 2 (not in stock) top soil (not in stock) and MPC peat free of which there loads but not makes I wanted to buy. Had to get substitutes because I need to get my tomatoes out in the greenhouse soon. Pottered about in the garden after lunch and then had a long phone chat with my sister who's just been on a long weekend away with two sets of our cousins.
@chicky hope this isn’t too weird, but I think I was looking to join the gardening club you are a member of, did they also have a plant sale the saturday after the wisley talk?
Evening all, I hope you get the keys soon too DD, that sort of behaviour is definitely not acceptable. Been with the boys today. Turned my back for a minute and found Gabriel dancing under the garden sprinkler naked as the day he was born. Jonah was standing by laughing at him. It wasn't very warm so he came inside fairly quickly. Jonah spent a few hours in A&E after falling off his bike and splitting his chin. Dr says it shouldn't scar and Jonah said it hurt less than the graze on his knee. Have a few quiet days coming up so I'm hoping to get some gardening done and relax a bit. The past week or so has been quite frantic. Sorry to hear about your reaction to the jab PD. I haven't had chicken pox so don't think I should have the shingles jab, unless someone advises me otherwise.
@zugenie not weird at all 😀😀😀. We did have a plant sale last Saturday. Grayshott Gardeners would love to welcome you. Please come along (you can pay on the night if you’d rather “try before you buy”) ….. the programme for the rest of the year is great (see website). And if you come along, ask for Sue W ... someone will come and find me. It would be lovely to say hello 👋🏻

Good idea @Ergates, hope you can sort something out @Latimer.
