We've had a good day. The boys played in the river. Daughter 1 admired my garden. She's not the daughter with depression @Lizzie27, that's Daughter 2. Daughter 1 has over 120 roses in her garden, looks fabulous. We went for a mother daughter walk together, posted photos on the Walks thread.

Hello all, what a lovely treat for you @Dovefromabove , enjoy! I was hoping to get my veg out of the GH today but it's such a cold wind and 11 deg I'll not bother. Is it usually that cold so early in the winter @Pat E? The weather is doing some very strange things now.
I'm experimenting with Ollas this year, not the expensive ones but DIY ones, but at this rate I'm not sure I'm going to need them!

And now someone has turned up in response to my plea on the NextDoor website and she’s digging my veg patch!  £12:50 per hour. 👍
That way Wonky can concentrate on the borders when she’s here next week. Things are falling into place.
I’ve been to the farm shop and butcher and re-stocked the freezer  … they won’t starve. 😊

@Dovefromabove, what an absolutely splendid treat, well done Wonky. You've been full on with caring so probably really need a good rest away from the worry.

Sorry, @Busy-Lizzie, I didn't mean to imply your daughter had depression at all, it was just the thought connection about our respective daughters. I'm so pleased you had a lovely time with yours.

We're also going away for a few days soon, a trip to the Cotswolds again. The weather looks glorious and we're hoping to go back to see Snowhill Manor which has a really lovely garden. It's a very long walk from the carpark to the house/gardens though.

I thought I'd better test whether I can manage so I've just walked through the nearby community orchard to meet OH on his way back from the local shops and it wasn't too painful.  It's really warm out there so I might potter in the garden later.

    Sorry you've got cold weather @Pat E and @floralies.

Floralies I don’t think we are usually this cold. Maybe it’s just old age affecting me.🙄

Ok … she’s forked over and weeded half the small veg patch (£20) but apparently it’s too hot (currently 13C) to work any more today. She’ll come back another day if I message her 🤔
To be fair, she’s not a professional gardener … she normally does caring/cleaning and just answered my ad cos she had some free hours.
