Oh we’ve always got dandelions here … it’s just that there may even be real lions lurking in our jungle 😂

Lovely day here yesterday. OH cut quite a lot of the grass, so I went out with my secateurs and tidied back some of the fast growing shoots of the grisselinia hedge. Really needs trimming with the electric hedge trimmer, but that will have to wait until after nesting season. I didn’t see any nests, but there is always a lot of bird activity near the hedge.
Had a rest in the afternoon to compensate, but don’t think I overdid it. I’m not taking any painkillers today, I’m thinking a few twinges will be useful to remind me not to strain myself. Seriously considering wearing oven gloves in the house, make me think first before automatically picking things up / tackling chores, when I’m not supposed to! Having a quiet day today watching the birds, enjoying the garden, and trying to ignore what appears to be a mini forest of beech and an ash tree sprouting up on the bank.

Having been awol for a couple of days I've had a quick flick through just to check that everyone is still relatively OK.  Saw a lovely pic of a dahlia.  Which reminded me - I was given a few tubers at the Garden Market on Sundayso I must get them started off asap as very late!  But fingers crossed as I have lost a few over the winter.

Yesterday I was at my laptop by 7.30am - some quiet time to catch up on all my paperwork.  Or so I thought - the emails started flying in an hour later and just kept going!  All good but all distracting.  Still, got it all done in the end and then promptly fell asleep in front of the telly.

Afternoon all,  Relatively easy day today.  Had a lie in, always nice.  The morning was very cloudy and quite chilly so I didn't do any gardening.  Picked up Bestie from the hospital as she had been for her pre op checks for a hip replacement and the parking there is awful, and expensive.  We then popped out for coffee, cake and a gossip.  Came home and planted some more french beans, prepared a large barrel for sowing some more peas and transferred the tomato plants into a grow bag in the greenhouse.  Finished up by watering everything and now I'm waiting for a spag bol to finish cooking.
Sounds like your students had a good time DD.
Don't worry about the garden Dove, I pretty much ignored mine last year and it's now back in shape.  You have enough on your plate.
I've got some hedges etc that need trimming back Ergates.  My tree man had a family emergency earlier in the year and we missed the window before nesting season.  Thinking of booking him for November time.

Afternoon all, afraid I woke up in agony so rang the osteopath, who fortunately lives near us and hobbled down to see him this afternoon. Apparently I have two problems one involving ligaments on both shoulders and then strained ligaments on lower back.
Recovery time about 12 weeks - cripes! I've got gentle exercises to do and mustn't sit down for more than an hour at a time. Going to be frustrating going into peak gardening season but needs must. Am allowed to do gentle gardening pottering but no heavy lifting, rather like you @Ergates. Our garden might soon look like yours @Dovefromabove, we'll both have to pretend it's good for wildlife.

@D0rdogne_Damsel , Glad the Thatcher discussion went off well, suspect the food and coffee cake helped!

Ouch @AnnaB, that does sound painful. Hope it heals up soon.

Another day, another domestic appliance drama. This morning the dishwasher was making an odd noise. Called B gas homecare and was offered an appointment this morning. The same guy who looked at the freezer turned up.
Mice have been playing under it and chewed the water pipe. The noise was the anti flood pump. He's coming back tomorrow with a new hose

It’s a pity I can’t loan you Pixel, Hosta,  She’d make short work of the mice. 😳 She escaped from the house, a few weeks ago, and by the time Hubby caught her, she had a mouse in her mouth.

Another cool start here today. Hubby has his regular toenail trimming today, but I’m staying in with the heater and Pixel.

    Good morning all 😊 ☕️
Glad you’ve found the cause @Hostafan1 … hope there’s not too many of the little varmints. Don’t want Pixel to have to be sent Air Mail. 😉

Got to get up this morning … I’m driving son to Broomfield … he says he won’t need the wheelchair 😃

    Morning all.

Daughter 1, her OH and 2 of her 3 sons are coming for a couple of days. I did the food shopping yesterday while OH was at the dentist. I will have to put OH's lunch in the Magimix, mouth is a bit sore. He was prepped for 4 implants. We had fish pie last night, fish finely chopped.

Need to get a move on. Still have beds to make.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
