They will have training and public liability insurance. Most private individuals do not.
My son has recently been in intensive care with 40% burns following a gas cylinder explosion early this year. He was in a coma on life support for over 5 weeks. He has extensive grafts to his hands, arms and back. He cannot yet care for himself. He is making amazing progress and astounding the doctors but the results of the explosion are lifechanging. He cannot use his hands or arms properly. He is a musician. It will be a very long time before he can play properly again.
The chap using the gas bottle said he knew what he was doing. He didn’t. He got it wrong. Three homes and a car exploded and my son nearly lost his life.
Don’t say to me “… no accident or explosions have ever happened.”
There’s always a first time. You think the worst can’t happen? It can … even in the USA
when comes to you brits my favorite day is sept 13. that day in 1814 was the battle of Fort McHenry. that day the british fleet failed cower the the soldiers who died keeping the flag aloft. that battle gave the USA our national anthem.
Looking at your posts, I begin to think that it was probably our favourite day too. Why do you persist in posting derogatory remarks about the UK and its citizens when you are using a UK based forum ? At least, we already know that we are not perfect whereas you appear not to have yet grasped the fact that neither is your own country. The US laws are something of a joke when it comes down to Climate, Food production and the old saw about The Right to Bear Arms to name a few. The US vies with the UK on electing totally unsuitable people as President/ PM but then you also whinge about electoral conspiracy. There are several posters on here who live in the US - interesting, informative and nice people. Like many other posters on here, I have enjoyed US pen pals for many years and have wide ranging discussions. Our opinions on some issues may differ but so what. I don't think I'm on my own when I say your constant sniping and griping is becoming a bore to say the least. Sit down, eat your Maryland/coronation Chicken or whatever you like to call the mish mash your recipe involved, do us all a favour and grow up.
Some years ago I worked in the LPG company, we had to look at the photos of people who had had accidents, the bosses had to work out whether they could claim negligence from the company, but yes, accident do happen. And really, who want a gas cooker out in the street for a party!
I think war garden need to get off this predominately UK site and badger other Americans. But then of course, he probably wouldn’t get away with being so rude to his own people.

Not only the accident in which Dove's son was so badly injured...
On Sunday our favourite fish restaurant at Southwold went up in flames along with another business and several fishermens' sheds. They think the fire was started with an electrical fault, but the whole thing was made much worse by exploding LPG gas cylinders. They are like bombs when they explode.
It's one reason why properly regulated camping / caravan camping sites have strict rules about spacing between vehicles - to minimise the risk of a chain reaction.
Only an idiot wouldn't understand the dangers and risks associated with LPG canisters. They should always be handled carefully and with respect.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
@Topbird Back in the’80s I glanced up at just the right moment towards a large upright gas welding cylinder, temporarily abandoned over lunchtime by civilian contractors working in the corner of an aircraft hangar, when it decided to fall over, cause never properly ascertained. The outlet valve struck a metal cart and was knocked off. Contrary to what should have happened — i.e. the gas venting safely in a controlled way — the whole cylinder shot forward like the proverbial rocket and covered 150 feet across the hangar floor in about three seconds ! Huge clang as it was stopped by the hardened door and when I left 12 months later there was still a noticeable dent !
I’ve been VERY cautious around pressurised gas cylinders ever since.
When there's always biscuits in the tin, where's the fun in biscuits ?
Does anyone know roughly when the coronation date was announced.to us plebs. I have tried googling it every which way. My neighbour claims it's was only announced recently.
” BenCotto people in uk don't have potable gas burners or gas grills?”
I guess about half the village will be there, maybe a hundred people, sitting round in informal groups on the host’s lawn sharing sandwiches, nibbles, salads, drinks. We’ll bring our own chairs and blankets, hampers and paper plates. If rain threatens we will move under the Dutch barn. If it looks like heavy rain we’ll move into the church. This arrangement in no way lends itself to a plethora of gas burners (drinkable or otherwise) and the need for plates and cutlery.
And I dare say our arrangements will be repeated in gardens and streets up and down the country - you bring your own food (including quiche) and share it with your friends and neighbours. It is informal, has conviviality and informality at its heart, and it is not an occasion for cooked main courses and side dishes.
