I'm just surprised you didn't think it would end up like this.

My first and only comment on the thread.
    Cheery bye....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Waste of money . Shrug shoulders
@Hostafan1 in case you’re one of those who have the illusionary idea of Not my king, the moment you are born and get the citizenship of a country, you are condemned to give your life for the country if the country asks you to do it. Dying in a battlefield doesn’t make it better if it’s for an elected head of state.                                       . I've never said I wanted an elected head of state

Not all of us. Some of us are citizens.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Interested enough to watch It on TV

You were at liberty to ask. Maybe I should have replied on a private message.

I thought it was fabulous and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope Charles and Camilla sleep well tonight, they must be exhausted.

@rowlandscastle444 I was moved by what you said about your wife.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Neutral.
Went for a drive into Northumberland. Lots of people out and about but a lot of the roads back in Newcastle were a lot quieter.

Watched a few of the highlights whilst eating tea.

Everything looked very shiny and opulent.

Lots of military walking and hats. Lots of hats.

OH got some Coronation chicken from M&S to have with his salad.

I’m sure those who follow such things enjoyed it.

Two ducks came to sit next to me in Alnwick. They were after what I was eating but it was bannoffee gelato so I had to deny them a beakful.

Nature wasn’t aware of the nonsense in London.

Oh to be a duck in Alnwick.

Charles doesn't need thanking for your double pay, @Sheps , but the unions (historically) do.  I doubt very much that your employer would be eager to pay you double time or allow you time off work, including paid holidays, without working men and women in the past having fought hard for the right for you, for us all, to have them.
I wholeheartedly agree with you in regards to the unions @Winston_The_Gravity_Man I'm a member of one, albeit a crappy one.

But, saying that...the unions didn't make Monday a Bank Holiday, Charlie Boy did.
  • Excited. Can't wait
Sorry, @sheps, but I'm afraid not, t'was his Government wot dun it ......

Extra bank holiday for coronation of King Charles III set for 8 May 2023

The government has announced an additional bank holiday to mark the coronation of King Charles III next year.

Downing Street said the UK-wide holiday will fall on Monday 8 May after the coronation at Westminster Abbey two days earlier.

Rishi Sunak said the day would be an opportunity for families and communities across the country to come together to celebrate.

The announcement follows calls from Tory MPs for the government to either move the early May bank holiday from 1 May to coincide with the coronation weekend or to declare an extra day off.

Sunak said: “The coronation of a new monarch is a unique moment for our country. In recognition of this historic occasion, I am pleased to announce an additional bank holiday for the whole United Kingdom next year.
