steveTu just had a google, I know, shouldn’t copy and paste but it’s only a small amount which is legal, Among King Charles's many titles are Defender of the Faith – a title bestowed on Henry VIII by the pope, and retained after England broke with Rome – and supreme governor of the Church of England.

No he hasn’t. He’s gone along with what the Queen said totally. She said that Camilla should be Queen Camilla … just as the Queen Mother was known as Queen Elizabeth .., it does not mean that she is the monarch, simply the way the gendered English language works it means, in this case, that she is the wife of the monarch. She would not be Queen if Charles was not king.
Just as a Mrs KT53 would not be so called if she were not married to a Mr KT53.

@Lyn - yes I know that - my mistake. I thought you were saying that Charles was NOT head of the CofE BUT WAS defender of the faith. That is NOT true. H VIII was given that Catholic title by the pope - the title of a Catholic King that 'stuck'. It was then used by subsequent CofE monarchs in their role as head of the CofE. I think I'm right in saying that effectively the title 'Defender of The Faith' then = 'Head of The CofE'.
The title Defender of the Faith was initially bestowed by the pope on Henry VIII … but it was later confirmed by Parliament as a title to be used by the monarch in perpetuity.

I am not much bothered, but I know these things bring enormous pleasure to many, and money to the country, and that is good enough for me. Would I want to see the Monarchy scrapped? NO.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I won't be watching it on TV as we don't have one. I was genuinely upset when the old Queen died, as she had been the Queen longer than I have been alive. When Charles cried at the funeral, I thought it was good to have a real human being on the throne (compared to some of the monsters we elected). But I saw that they were bringing out a new £5 coin to commemorate the event, and I thought: hardly anyone uses cash any more. And the sheer cost of it all at a time when so many people are really badly off seems rather appalling.
I don't see why Charles and Camilla should be judged for their infidelities. That is modern life - secular life. The Establishment of the CofE means that it is inevitable that head of state is head of church. Personally I get much more annoyed by the behaviour of the church than of the monarchy - I believe an established church should uphold the law of the country or lose it's legal status. But I do want to see the monarchy abolished. I don't see the need to replace them with a president - we have a prime minister and the houses of commons and lords to hold the pm accountable. As far as I can see, the members of the monarchy are damaged by the really absurd position they are put in. They should just go away and be ordinary millionaires and not find themselves being judged for behaving like everyone else

I will be watching the coronation because I am interested in history, tradition etc etc. The last coronation happened before I was born and unless something tragic occurs I will only get to see two coronations at the most (Charles and William).
I have no problem with Camilla. She and Charles have been 'properly' together for 25 years and seem well matched. The whole Diana thing was a very sad example of antiquated royal match making which brought a great deal of unhappiness to all parties and was always doomed to fail.
The senior royals (Charles, Anne, Edward, William and spouses) seem to be hard workers. Yes they are rich and can indulge their hobbies and afford all the best kit and clothes. They are well looked after in beautiful homes - but I wouldn't want to be them - permanently in the public eye, having to be permanently 'well turned out' and expected to attend events and church services when I'd rather be sat on the sofa. I don't think it's a nice or particularly privileged life at all - unless you only equate privilege with material wealth.
The royal family does do good in this country and tourism is a major factor. The Duke of Edinburgh introduced his D of E scheme which has benefitted thousands of young people. The Prince's Trust has given a major kick start to the lives of many youngsters. Having met a few beneficiaries of the Trust in a couple of very deprived areas of Leeds, I can tell you that those youngsters had nothing but praise for Charles who had taken a very personal interest in their businesses.
I'm looking forward to it. My husband, however, will be going out - somewhere far away from TV sets ...

That's one aspect I really disagree with. The Queen made her views very clear not long before her death but Charles has decided to ignore them.
