@Hostafan1 what the Archbishop was asking for is an idea of a kingdom from the time after the 16th century. The kingdom was interpreted as a body. The king is the head and the people are the rest of the body. That’s why it was a crime to commit suicide because this was like taking off a finger from the body.
The commitment today was not towards the King in person but the King as head of the body.
Being a constitutional monarchy, this still applies but some legal adjustments were made.

@Hostafan1 in case you’re one of those who have the illusionary idea of Not my king, the moment you are born and get the citizenship of a country, you are condemned to give your life for the country if the country asks you to do it. Dying in a battlefield doesn’t make it better if it’s for an elected head of state.
