As a monarchist, I nevertheless feel the Country has missed an opportunity to inject a feeling of 'Feel Good Factor' at a time when it really needs one. Whilst not denying other human beings the right to happiness in their lives, for me Prince Charles and Mrs Parker Bowles should have taken leaves out of Edward VIII's book, maybe continuing as Head of the Commonwealth as the Queen wished, but otherwise retiring to Highgrove and leaving thee throne to King William V and his lovely Queen Catherine as the first in the House of Spencer Windsor to honour the rightful role that Diana should have occupied.
I agree with @Hostafan1 it’s a disgrace to crown that pair of adulterers. They are not fit to be called King and Queen. They should have retired quietly and left the crown to Diana’s son.

and that divorced, lying, adulterer will be the head of the church of England !
I was on holiday for " the funeral " so didn't see any of that either, not that I'd have watched any of it had I been here. It's just a ridiculously pampered family of parasites .
Hostafan1, once you contribute 2 billion Pounds a year to the country's income, you will be treated differently. Especially, most people will show you respect, something that is obviously foreign to you.
The Queen was 88 when she announced that she can no longer work 320 days a year and needs to cut it to 280 days. The average person like you and me works on 220 days a year. It's a very simple maths: 70 years a 320 days = 22,540 working days 50 years a 220 days = 11,000 working days
The monarchy cost us £0.89 a year. During the reign of
Elisabeth II, most countries had the equivalent of 17 Heads of States in
a 4 years office time. Alone the souvenirs that will be sold in the following months and years will outnumber the costs of the Coronation.
Apart from the financial aspect, the discussion what could replace a
monarchy hasn't finished, because whatever they consider, they end up
with a useless Head of State that no-one knows, that has no impact,
doesn't contribute in any sense, costs a lot of money, that needs to be
elected by the same people that populi describe as being corrupt, and
who is definitely not worth to be visited.
Can't wait to see it because it will be my first coronation that shows me the hundreds of years old procedure.

Do you think the £3,000,000 of tax payers' money we spent on security for princess Eugenie's wedding was good value?
Speaking personally, as someone who has technically committed adultery and is now ‘living in sin’ I’m completely discombobulated by the number of people I’m aware of who have had affairs, left one spouse for another, entered into relationships not recognised by the C of E, and who profess to have no time at all for the Christian religion, who feel entitled to take a view in the press and elsewhere on anything other than the constitutional status of the coronation.
After all, doesn’t the Christian religion state ‘Let he who is without sin cast the first stone’ ?

Where is your evidence to substantiate that claim?
How much does the coronation cost us? Factor in lost production as folk have a day off work, costs to business as they have to pay folk to have a day off. Lost income for self employed who are not wanted in folks houses that day. Cost of policing and security. If YOU know these figures, you're a better person than I. I'm sure the , presumably, Chinese manufacturers of souvenir tatt will be happy about it all . Much of which will be next month's landfill like all the plastic bunting folk bought for the diamond jubilee. What cost to the environment for that?

See it like this: Our salaries are based on the income what we need to pay our bills and some other things that we do. The high incomers are just 10 or 20% and can be ignored as they get their income for different reasons.
An average employee has got a family with wife/husband and 2 children. One day, the employer asks the employee, "why do I pay you such high salary and you spend all the money on a wife/husband that doesn't work or is overspending, and on two kids, where the daughter/sun is a total failure and isn't capable of doing anything good".
I said it before, if you wish to understand, read the King's Two Bodies by Kantorowicz. I know it's hard stuff, not populistic, doesn't confirm your opinion, and requires that you break boundaries.

you didn't answer the question.
Do you think the £3,000,000 of tax payers' money we spent on security for princess Eugenie's wedding was good value? Do you support Andrew getting £249,000 of tax payers' money this year? Simple, yes or no answers. I'm off to work, something most royals don't do.
I can see good points about the overall set-up (a modern constitional monarchy with a hands-off figurehead head of statw should be less of a circus, less expensive and less autocratic than a presidency) but I dislike the Windsors and resent funding their silly lives.
