Been to opticians  but it wasn't straight forward. OH was seeing double at the start, then blurry( does this remind anyone of anything?!🙄). then they were too low down on his nose, seeing double again. Gawd😕 Eventually, the woman got them  sitting right and in the correct position. It will take him a little while to get used to them as one lens is really different this time round. We think in the future, we are going to try a smaller, more local family orientated opticians, as it was very busy with people doing nothing. ( well know sp** place).

Have managed to plant out here more Bidens, sorted a dahlia out, done some watering and filled the water butt. Now having a break. Also arranged for a window cleaner to come once a month as I'm finding hanging out of the top windows a bit risky nowadays!🤭

    Afternoon all.

Hazel, sorry to hear that your visit to optician wasn't smoothly. Hope your OH can now see normally, and you also was busy bee in the garden. 😊

After yesterdays walk I styed longer this morning in the bed little bit longer. It's not sunny but it's calm and much warmer, so I spent some time in the garden. Mostly weeding and clearing old leaves. It was quite nice. Now is time for tea.
Here is few photos of new flowers at this moment.

Lovely Ante, most of our daffs have gone over now which I'm sad about, as I love them. OH is feeling better about his new glasses now,,thank you, getting used to them and can see clearly. The rest in bed will have done you good too, shows you need some extra rest just now.
    It's raining here again now.

Good afternoon all. Well what started out as a promising day turned into the usual wet disaster. It has been very cold all day. My bird food did not arrive which I am a bit cross about - does this sound familiar Ante? It will probably be tomorrow now. I had a text from the car repair shop and they estimate that my car will be ready on 28th of this month so not too long to wait now.
Hazel, I think I recognise the Spec shop! Whenever I go, there seem to be loads of people just standing around talking and not much else happening. I need to have my glasses adjusted as they have NEVER seemed to fit properly and I have had them tweaked twice already. You can get a clear plastic dome to hang over the top of your feeder which will deter the starlings. Its lovely seeing things popping through in the GH. Before it started raining I moved the pots that have my Jerusalem artichokes in - all showing signs of growth - out of the GH to stand in the garden. Once they are a little bigger I will plant them into their permanent positions. I also found another large and mysterious plant - the name on the label it came with looks like Magpie but I've no clue. It will be interesting to see what it grows into.
Ante, I love your tulip and iris pictures. My tulips are only just beginning to show their flower buds.

By the way Hazel, I think you are absolutely right about hanging out of windows to clean them - not a good idea!

I did some weeding and edging and planted my new salvia Mainacht and moved a hosta this morning and OH mowed.

This afternoon we went to Sainsbugs because OH wanted a waterproof jacket that was lighter than his winter one but thicker than his summer one. They didn't have one so we went to a sports shop and they had just what he wanted with zip pockets 50% off in the sale.

Our window cleaner comes every 6 - 8 weeks, he's just cleaned out the gutters too. I love having a window cleaner. Not someone you see in France. French windows open inwards, so you can open them when the shutters are shut.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

LB, I love a mystery, Wonder what your unknown plant is? You'll have to keep us updated. I do actually have a squirrel baffle but use it as a cover for some plants! I've just ordered another one so might try that on the new feeder we've got. Good idea.
Busy, handy to be able to open windows inwards. We are thinking of having a new double glazed window unit put in the kitchen as the seals have blown.(  getting all windows replaced a bit at a time. ) However, I have  a problem. The current window handle is one where you turn the key and the inner bit pops out. I am just tall enough to reach over the sink and push it open. Our newer windows( in other rooms) are such that you turn the key and have to hold the push in button pushed in to open the window. I wouldn't be able to reach to do that! 😬😬 So, will have a talk with some window companies and see what they can offer.
Glad, your OH managed to get a new jacket and a bargain at that.👍
  • I’ve had a lovely time.  We walked around the grounds while still dry, and had a look in the gift shop and the delicatessen, had hot freshly baked cheese and onion pasties and tea and later to the cafe for home baked bake well tart topped with almonds, rather large, and lattes.  It was just starting to rain as coming home.  I went straight to bed to catch up on sleep.  Night night have a restful night.
  • Hazel hope oh vision settles soon and he gets used to wearing his glasses differently.
