LB, I'm back from SM. 😂 It's Saturday and I didn't want to be stuck in the crowd.
Sunny and cold morning outside. It's probably short break between rain, which is forecasted whole next week. I bought everything from my list, it's all unpacked, and I can have cup of tea.
Good morning all. Gorgeous sunshine here today. Got a trip to GC with sister later for lunch and she wants a few plants though she is no gardener and has to be dissuaded from putting foxgloves in the hot dry front garden and colourful annuals just everywhere. I am trying to persuade her of the value of some low impact perennial plants for ground cover but she wants large showy plants with bright flowers.
Ante, I was back from SM before you and once I unpacked and put everything away I have been baking. Just going to have a cuppa myself and then venture into the garden. The sun is shining but it is still on the chilly side

Morning all, Well, it’s stopped raining at last and though there’s no sunshine out, it does look brighter. Still very chilly though. Got a few chores to get on with this morning, then I hope to get out in the garden to do some general tidying. The grass has grown since it’s cut last week, but it’s still far too wet to trim today. No SM for me today, we tend to go mid week these days when it’s quieter. Had years of Saturday or Sunday rush and queues so now take advantage of being retired. You have been busy @Ladybird4 - I can smell your baking from here 😅.
I had a dreadful night, lots of pain. Rang 111, eventually spoke to a nurse then a doctor. Doctor thinks diverticulitis is probably the problem but I should be examined by a doctor. No doctors available here unless I go to A&E 40 mins drive away. When NDN went there in an ambulance she was on a trolley for 2 days before they found her a bed. No thanks. Pain is a bit better this morning.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Oh dear Busy I am so sorry to read that . I understand your feelings . My OH will not go to hospital .Waiting times and all the cross infections are putting him off . We do have a weekend surgery at another doctors where doctors from several surgeries cover the weekend . Do you have a service like that ?
Hello all. Just realised I haven't posted on here for a few days. Been very busy in the garden doing the big spring tidy up and planning what I might plant in the gaps left by casualties of last year's drought and prolonged cold snap.
We're away to Germany again next week so trying to get everything done before we leave. Just managed to sell my old e-bike on ebay. Been on there for weeks but only had a sensible offer last night. Chap lives in Lancashire and wants to meet halfway in Notts tomorrow. Bit of a pain having to take a day out just before we go away, but OH is going to do it for me so I can get on with holiday preps. The chap who bought it is 87 yrs old and had his bike (same model) stolen and seems very pleased to be getting a direct replacement. Apparently he has missed being able to get out and about on his bike. Hope I'm still doing it at 87!
BL - I'm sorry to read you've been so uncomfortable. It is lovely living in rural East Anglia but it's not so good for out of hours medical care. We certainly have no walk-in minor injuries units around here, and virtually no out of hours doctor cover except for A&E. Imagine it's much the same for you. Hope things improve very soon.
Debs - sorry to hear your OH might have to leave his current job (it looked a lovely place to work) but those are crazy enough hours for a youngster starting out let alone somebody of 'more mature' years. His health is far too important. Good that he should be able to find alternative work easily.
Need to get out there again this afternoon and finish turning the compost bin. Those sorts of jobs are much easier when it's a little cooler!
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Another cool day, although a sunny start. Busy i hope the bus open helps and that you can be seen, the waiting of two days is such a consideration. Debs I hope your fiancé will be able to find something with better hours. Sometimes they oversell these positions and you realise why the last person left. Cycling at 87 is encouraging and keeping flexible Topbird. Enjoy your next trip away and wishing you a good journey. LB hope you and Lily are rested. Hazel your garden must be looking colourful or about to be. Lilys tv at present, last wash in.
Afternoon all. Goodness me Busy! I was so sorry to read about your troubles. With you heading off to France soon it must be a nightmare for you.
Hello T'Bird. That was a good sell. 87! Respect to that gentleman for braving the highways!
I have had a really busy and enjoyable time in my garden today. My miniature roses finally arrived and they are now in their own pots outside. I've planted out 3 clematis; 2 epimediums; a big clump of London Pride and some Fox and Cubs (which I love) and finally a raspberry - Malling promise. I have raspberries every morning for breakfast so I decided to have a bash at growing them. I do have a blueberry and as long as I can beat the blackbirds to them I have those as well - still have to buy them though as it rarely produces enough for all year round.
