Good morning Rosie and Yvie. Good morning too, to all joining later.
Busy, you had some great discounts at the SM yesterday. I still hope that you will get yourself checked over when you get to France.
Yvie, I love some of the things that children come out with. I remember when my youngest sister was very small and at that time Dad was stationed in Bahrain. She noticed her sweat for the first time and announced 'Look, I'm crying all over'. Of course we all collapsed laughing but in retrospect I guess it was a very perceptive statement.
Ante, fingers crossed that you can get to the cottage later. I was smiling listening to the forecasters today going on about 'sunshine' yesterday. It never stopped drizzling here and so far it is still looking dull this morning.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning everyone .Another lovely morning here .Sorry you were awake because of Arthritis pain Yvie.I hope you are in the land of nod now .Rosie I do worry that you are not getting enough sleep . LB that was a lovely story about your sister . I hope your weather clears up so that you can do some gardening .
Yes, LB, I have an appointment to see my GP in France soon after we get back.
Friends have invited us to lunch today. I always like seeing them but I must do some gardening this morning. The weather will turn rainy from Thursday and I want to finish the garden before we go. I lost several days because of being unwell.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all. Slept too well last night and feeling groggy this morning. OH has gone out with son to pick up his car to take to the garage. It's very chilly outside , only 8degrees brrrr. so nothing outside will be done unless it warms up later.
A nice sunny morning here, though there’s a chilly breeze with it. Managed to get a good bit of gardening done yesterday. OH cut the grass and I trimmed a couple of plants - a hebe and a pine tree (can’t remember the variety), both of which had put on quite a growth spurt. I’m in two minds about the pine tree, because although it’s lovely to look at, it’s getting bigger despite frequent trimming (not too tall yet, but could become so if left). I’m thinking that I should maybe cut it down before I find it too hard to manage the older I get. I don’t want to end up with an unmanageable monster. At the moment it’s about 5 feet tall. I think it will go soon, though it does look pretty at Xmas time with lights draped over it. Practicality suggests it should go. Enjoy your lunch with your friends @Busy-Lizzie. I hope you managed to do a spot of gardening first.
Good afternoon all. Busy day today. It was the funeral of Jack's NDN today - a friend who used to take him fishing regularly. Of course Jack has been too frail in the last few years to go, even allowing for the pandemic, but he really missed those moments when he could commune with nature, watch cheeky robins pinching his bait and share time with his buddy. I nipped across to see him as, whilst I was sorting through the photographs last week, I found two with his wife and two pet Jack Russells (Ante - little dogs). He was invited round to have a drink next door so I came back to my gardening. It did turn out nice after all.

Busy, I am glad that you will be seeing your GP in France. Jack's daughter is desperate to see her Doctor as she has had a cough for ages but she can never get passed the clinical nurse. When she asked why she couldn't see her Doctor she was told that they were still catching up on appointments from January of LAST year. She is going to go private. Hope that you have had a pleasant lunch with your friends.
Red maple - your dilemma over the pine tree was like mine over my oak tree. I hated removing it but the sensible comments from friends on here made me see sense. It was too close to my greenhouse and the back of my garage.

@Red maple, best to get rid of the pine, lovely though it is ( been there ourselves and felt guilty afterwards😢😬) whilst you are still able. It the reality of caring for some things as we get older that is hard to accept, but, in the long run, it will present a planting opportunity for you and OH😊( which you can manage). OH has cut the grass this afternoon, I've been potting up a home grown foxglove along with some home grown Mexican Fleabane into a large pot, to make a ' display'. Then had to get OH to move it🙄 The suns been shining on and off all day, but when hidden, it's been so cold with a chilly ind that our stints outside didn't last too long. LB, Jack will miss his friend and his chats, I hope he continues to get out though sometimes,to keep him engaged with outside life. Since Dad died, my mum rarely goes out and has become almost housebound now. Mindset has changed.Hope he will be OK. How is your bestie friend doing? Going to sign out for tonight. Off to watch Magpie Murders,( episode two. ) which we've recorded.
