Good afternoon all. I've been offline again - apparently VM have been having problems and their engineers were 'on' it'. The recorded voice that told me all this could have kicked in a little earlier to save my hanging on the line for almost half and hour. Thats 30 minutes of my life I won't get back. Anyway, its behaving itself now so that's good.
Biglad, I'm glad that you have broken the back of the deliveries. You'll be able to get some gardening in soon - between the other jobs.
Red maple, I have a little pest in my garage - who has taken up squatter's rights - and I think it has had a field day in the pots. I have to keep checking the dustbin I have my bird food in - I'm sure its casing that as well.
Ante, we seem to have been very lucky over the last few days - I have been in my garden for most of the day which was just so nice. Got a lot done and am looking to further work tomorrow. Feeling a little bit creaky though after all my efforts. Must pace myself tomorrow.
I have a young oak tree in my garden - present from a squirrel three years ago. I am torn between keeping it and getting rid. Its down near the greenhouse. I noticed today that it actually has a oak gall on it. I thought only mature trees would have one of these. I haven't inspected it to see it there is a little hole - meaning the gall wasp will have bored its way out but I'll get a picture.

Well there is a little hole so the wasp must have bored its way out. Hmmm so do I keep it or get rid. Anyone else got oaks in their garden?

Hi LB. Nice that you can work in the garden, don't overdo yourself. If the young tree is to near to greenhouse or house, I would probably dig it up. Now is lovely and small, but you know how big oak tree can grow, and roots can cause a lot of problems later. Wasps are probably all get out of those oak gall, and you cam remove it if you want. It will just dried up and eventual fall itself.

Sadly, I think you are right Ante. The oak tree is about two metres from the GH but that is not far enough really. I think I might have a bit of a struggle digging it out so I will just have to take it slowly.

  • LB yes I think you’re both right.  Glad you’re back on line though.  Just had some tiramisu for pud, lovely.  Rest for now LB.

Weve got a very big oak tree in our garden @Ladybird4.
The one in your photo looks like it's quite big for just 3 years old. A couple of months ago I noticed a few acorns that had fallen this autumn had taken root and was amazed at how long the roots were already when I got them out of the ground. Your oak tree is quite near your shed to grow any bigger, the roots will cause problems growing under/around it. Plus how far away from your house is it. Hope you can get someone to help you dig the tree out.
@Rubee glad you had a lovely
day and found some lovely plants for the garden.
OH was very tired after his friends visit, but enjoyed seeing him.
    Night night everyone, sleep well.

    Morning all (from the CA),

Having my own IT issue here as well @Ladybird4 Mine is self-inflicted though :o In recent years, I normally get issued with a laptop from each job and a work e-mail address. At the end of the contract the laptop goes back (unfortunately!) and all the e-mails and associated guff disappear from my life. Prior to that, I had to use my own laptop and personal e-mail address. For a couple of valid reasons, I never deleted all the e-mails accrued on each job when I'd officially finished working on it. Hence, the reason that I recently discovered that I'm utilising 261% of my allowable free e-mail storage of 5GB!

Begs the question of how I can use 261% of something ;) Also, why is that the cut-off point at which I can no longer send or receive e-mails???

Any road up, I've been deleting away for hours. I'm at 146% now :)

By the end of this week I'd like to have got my e-mail back and have 3 empty, green, council-issue boxes with not a poll card in sight :D Then I might be able to get in the garden - so far behind with seed sowing, planting, etc.  :(

Good morning @Biglad. That is a pain. I love the incredibility of 261% and, as you say, why such an arbitrary number? Not knowing who your service provider is I do have to say that that is a titchy amount of email storage allowance. With gmail you get 15GB as standard.
Do you not have a 'Delete All' button?
Plans for today have been put on hold.
