Things are looking up, a good selection of pics today.. all those buds waiting to come out..^
Old Roses have such character with their unique sepals and mosses..
I like your Campanula border @athelas I don't have Campanulas currently for some reason..
Those of us with 'Desdemona' will be anxiously awaiting those first wonderful blooms on this photogenic rose.. I think mine will open in the morning.. 'Mutabilis' opened today.. ..sumptuous 'Othello' again.. certainly growing on me @cooldoc
I have to keep showing this one as it's the only one I have in full bloom.. 'Marie Nabonnand' from different angles.. ..full shot..
Looking good ciaranmcgrenera, Strawberry Hill is a fab rose.
@daisym I feel terrible if I put you off, anything is worth a try but with expectations tempered perhaps.
I've tried to buy La France in the past, I dolike that curled back look Cooldoc, maybe after this season that will make my list.
I'm not put off TCL yet but the very late season bare roots have been a bit feeble. In contrast I bought excellent last day of the sale ones from Peter beales and they have romped away , so it can be done.
Since I last posted Ebb TideMarie Pavie, still a bit mildewed so it is in quarantine on the balcony. My very first Anniversary Rose which is a gorgeous recommendation of Marlorena's, thank you I am thrilled with it.
I have my second rose today. Always the first of the pinks I have. The reliable Olivia Austin. She is quite prone to black spot later in the year
This garden had no roses but lots of hidden Azaleas and rhodedandrum and no roses. I quite like the combination of the roses we added and plants we uncovered amidst the removal
Not long and my rope structure is going to be yellow and have a gorgeous scent. Enough open blooms today to finally take a picture.
The monster that is For Your Eyes Only is on the left and covered in buds. Rhapsody In Blue is also much taller than I ever expected, it's nearly 6ft (on the second post from the right at the step corner). Also covered in buds.
It's going to be a riot of colour soon and certainly not to everyone's taste!
@Tack No No please don't feel terrible! You have been a great help. One of these days I will have the time to spend learning about climbing roses but meantime I will go for a shrub rose and continue reading up on all that I need for a climber. Perhaps early next year I can be ready to start with a bare root and a new pot (which I will buy as a Christmas present for myself). I shall keep you all posted with photos once I have something to show.
