@Rojas 2.99 is a good price, I hope they were decent plants...
Mine are in pots. Very easy to care for, they were out all winter, unprotected, although against a wall.. They should not be fertilized, but some top up compost can be applied. Trimming off any old spent flower spikes in Jan/Feb time is good as they come into flower by late April.. and you don't want the old spikes still showing.. a quick snipping off with scissors is all it takes.. I didn't prune them back at all.. No watering from me during autumn/winter, and I only water from Spring to Autumn if very dry, perhaps once a month, a decent watering.. As they are evergreen, I cannot think of a more rewarding plant for 12 months of the year, for so little effort on my part..
..mid January.. I appear to have already removed most of the old flowers.. ..early May.. I bought a new one on 3rd May, and I took this photo yesterday..
Thanks for sharing your lovely lavender in pots. I was thinking of getting some to go in the border but I have some empty pots @Rojas thanks for the Lidl tip
@Alfie_I have a couple of tall standards in big pots, big ones, one is sunk into the ground and the other is on a lower level than my main garden so don’t look too tall or top heavy. Usually when a height is stated, it will say e.g. 110cm or 170cm standard, but that refers to the inter stem joining rootstock to upper rose grafts and yes that will thicken but not grow taller. How big the grafted roses grow up top to add to the height is down to how much and how hard your prune, I think. GT has flexible stems so if you left it unpruned it should weep naturally as the canes lengthen, but you can also peg the canes to the ground with twine if it needs a bit of ‘encouragement’.
I must admit I’m not a fan of HT roses as standards, too stiff and startled looking!
@dabolem my LoS is in it’s third position. South-facing, it crisped, north-facing, did ok, better colour but not very floriferous, now west facing with mainly late afternoon sun. Hopefully that will suit it the best!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
'Paul Noel' is such a pretty rambler, reminds me of 'Francois Juranville'..
Sorry for the same old, same old from me, but it's too cold here for anything new to open.. 'Tottering by Gently'.. 'Tall Story'.. 'Wilhelm'.. 'Lilac Bouquet'.. 'Mutabilis'.. 'Desdemona'.. Geranium 'Eureka'.
@Marlorena I love your Lilac Bouquet, is it disease resistant and shade tolerant?
My Desprez a Fleur Jaunes has put out a lot of buds, hopefully it will bloom very soon
And I managed to take a picture of Soul, I love it!
Night Owl is doing well, some new buds
Rhapsody in blue
Kew Gardens
Tottering by Gently with another flower
And finally Thomas a Beckett, it has very very droopy flowers, is it its habit or it will get better with time?
Overall I am happy with the roses I bought from TCL, I somewhat didn’t expect they to bloom at all in their very first year because they were all bareroot. I usually buy potted roses, it’s easier to decide where to plant them when you see the “final” form of the roses.
edit to add: anyone here with The Pilgrim rose? I’d like to buy it, to plant it in a East facing spot, but I read somewhere that it is not disease resistant.

Pat Austin, drooping but lovely. I am hoping once it is taller, flowers will be more at eye level.
And some obscenely bright flowers. Super trouper.
Fragrant cloud.
And a poppy
