Thank you @WAMS then I think I will get Batsheba (lol about Crown Princess Pepperoni!), because on that spot I absolutely need a rose with few or no thorns and somewhere I read CPM is a little on the thorny side.
@HarryWhite lovely roses you have (is this phrasing Yoda-like?). My Blue for you, very young, planted bareroot last November, has a mild scent of violets but is not wafting very far.
Well, I think I can manage a couple of thorns @WAMS, I simmply don’t want any more roses with thorns like Tess of the d’Uberville, which I really hardly touch anymore.
Every time I see you pics of Lavender Lassie I remember that I have to move mine that currently is n a shade-y spot and doesn’t flower at all, despite before I bought it they said it was the perfect choice for shade.
I should really start doing like someone on this forum, keep roses in their pot for some time in the place I want to plant them and see how they behave. Because it’s a really pain in the neck moving a rose already planted in the ground.
Last autumn I had to downsize due to illness at that time, since recovered, but I lost my 'Silas Marner' rose in the upheaval.. a little piece of stem must have got left behind, which rooted, and I noticed it this February.. I potted it up.. ..3 months later.. I do love the foliage colour on this rose..
I too have 'Lavender Lassie', which is a revisit for me since the 1980's.. sweetly scented.. I am so pleased to have this rose back again, it's full of buds.. 'Bring Me Sunshine'.. Delphinium 'Moonbeam'..
@Rojas that Constance Spry truly is a sight to behold. Incredible. How would you describe its fragrance? You probably mentioned it before but is that one plant?
@HarryWhite - nice photos. That first photo especially, its breathtaking with that background.
Hi @dabolem I’ve got The Pilgrim. This year it’s got a lot of black spot, I can’t remember it having it last year but quite a few people are saying their roses are suffering with it this year so I’m not sure if The Pilgrim is particularly susceptible or not, here’s a photo from this morning …
@Alfie_ both my standards are happily in pots. @WAMS oh no, whats up with your for your eyes only? Mines prolific but I saw yours is at risk of the bin?
Bring me Sunshine just open. Its well named, clean lime green leaves and very pale lemony yellow flowers. Looks good with purple. Needs a bigger pot, I ran out of time in winter, but have one ready!
Some new blooms today and a report on the newbies.
'Lovestruck' 'Million Dreams' Both newbies together. MD suffers from bs badly, possibly because it was in a small pot for too long/got too dry. Lovestruck right next to her is healthy. 'Comtessa' (sport of 'Augusta Luise') 'Saphir' 'Eyes for You' with veronica austriaca 'Belle de Crecy' with veronica 'Dunwich rose' 'Purple Lodge' Geraniums
Good to hear about your LOS @WAMS, i've just been out and given mine some temporary support after reading your post earlier. I'll enjoy her from close up this year. I can start tying her in when she grows another 1.5- 2ft. I'm not sure whether that will be this year or next though.
I asked because i was getting a strong Cinnamon scent too! But it reminded my OH of being in an old sweet shop that she used to visit, so maybe Turkish Delight and Violets does come in to it also! I think it was you Purplerallim that said these do well in exposed conditions? Well I'm getting more of them soon I love the Fellowship, Marlorena, my photo's don't really do them justice as they are a more deeper orange. Not a strong scented rose but with a few planted together we do sometimes pick up their scent when sat on the patio.
Thanks @Alfie_ and Marlorena regarding the views. I feel blessed, so lucky to live here and have that view considering this is a council estate and we only own half of the property (shared ownership with housing association). We got real lucky when this place became available. Would you believe there were 6 x 25ft conifer trees blocking out that view when we first moved in! What were the previous owners thinking!?
I've just seen Ronnie O'Sullivan at the garden center. I think he was eyeing up a plant.

A couple of quick snaps as it is too flipping cold to be outside!
Lavender Lassie. I love this rose.
Kathryn has pale yellow markings on the insides of the petals a bit like an iris.
